I am going to the stealership next week to have it looked at (and hopefully replaced), but I want to go prepared. How many six-genners have had this or similar problems with their Bose?

Maybe a poll for this would be best.

"The Bose premium cd player is neither premium nor plays. Discuss amongst yourselves...."
I had an 03 and mine did the same thing. They actually replaced my cd player twice but it never corrected the problem. I had an 05 also but it never did it.

I have the same problem with my 04 SE. When its cold the first few tracks on the cd skip. I cant understand that is probably a condensation issue but there has to be a way to prevent that. Maybe some desiccant packets to absorb the moisture? I do not have a warranty because i bought the car used, the dealership i bought the car from isnt even a Nissan dealership. Do i have any options other than paying out of pocket?

I just got my 08 in June and have already had the radio replaced. CDs would not eject and the screeen read "mech error". They ordered a "replacement" and made good on it but the service manager couldn't tell me what the real problem was. Seems to me that these are probably failing regularly for one reason or another...

Now that it's getting colder, I'm waiting anxiously to see if my CD starts skipping in my '08.

i just got my 04 max se its at 88k miles, no mods yet, everything is good , but the bose!.. i thought it was my car messin up, but as i have researched its a major problem in alot of nissans etc. The problem i have is that only when im playing cd's if every now and then the sound will just play on the right , its anoying!, i mean i thought it was the ssv option since sometimes i accelarated hard or braked it would happen etc., but i took that option off and still the problem, i went 2 an aftermarket stereo shop and they said it was a problem with the amp, but i mean it only happens with the stereo, on radio and even on tape its good ,it never does that , but yea if someone could help me please with this issue, because i mean it sounds great when all of the speakers are playin, but this sucks lol, anyway thanks

It skips in my 06 Max SE also, but mostly when its cold. After the whip is warmed up, doesn't skip that much. I plan on installing an i-pod adapter so won't be needing the cd player

Mine does the same thing... its a loose connection in the cd player somewhere. If I bang on the left side of the cd player area it will correct the connection and start playing out of both sides like it should. I just ordered an iPod connection and when I take the dash apart I hope I can find the issue and repair it.

My cd player also hates the cold, makes a lot of noise and skips until it warms up. Thankfully it doesnt take long. In my truck (97 chevy) when its cold... it takes forever to play a cd, usually I just have to give up and get to work. I live in houston, its not like it gets that cold....

With the few problems, its still leaps and bounds over what my other options to drive are

My 2004 nissan maxima SL factory HU cuts out on the left side once in awhile, does any1 have a solution to this problem besides replacing the head unit? Or know any place in the NYC area that can fix it for cheap? I've been doing research on this issue for a while now, but still no leads! Thanks for any input guys

The left side cut out is due to a bad ribbon cable connection in the CD changer unit. I have seen write ups for a fix on older generations... dunno if it will work on ours. Seems the way the ribbon cable connects tot he PCB in the changer unit wears over time and causes contact issues, I think it is actually a clarion cable. I think the cable can be unseated then reseated and the problem will correct itself but happen again over time. I will be pulling mine out in the next few days to see if I can get at it using the 02 walkthrough as a guide.

Factory Bose amp 28060-7Y300

I've got a factory BOSE amp that went this last spring, and the dealer wants $900 for a new one. On top of that the Service Manager was a jerk about it, so I don't really want to go to the dealer if possible.

A buddy of mine has the same car (only automatic) and the amp didn't work in his car when we swapped it. Any suggestions for how to fix this amp?

The model # on the amp is 28060-7Y300.

These are not in the auto wreckers yet, so I'm looking for help on where to repair or what to do.

UPDATE:

So I talked to Patty at Bose. Anyone know who she is? She's helpful, and I'm trying to get her to look into the Amp.

The Nissan Serial is 28060 7Y300
The Bose Serial (for Patty) is: 263030003014435 - 03191154

That's for the first release 2004 Max.

Jeff

PS. Bose is the best sound I've heard, but then again I'm not into $1500+ aftermarket sound mods. I'm not into $900 dealership amp replacements either I love the DIY $150 replacement amps that gets the job done.

Yeah i just bought my 2006 used 2monthes ago it has 130000kms. My cd player always skips in these cold canadian winters and skips a lot less when the car is warmed up, i think i might have to go to best buy or futrue shop and buy a new DVD screen/deck and ask them to install it , or just get one of those ipod cassete player auxillery things for an ipod

Bluetooth issues

I haven't had any bose problems skipping at all. Great sound. But I have a question. I have a '06 Maxima and I have an iphone 3g and now when I use my bluetooth to make calls or even answer calls, the caller says that I sound far away when the mic is right above me. My other AT&T phones never had that issue until I got the iphone. I can hear my callers just fine and I have to turn my volume on the car **** as far as it will go (22) so my caller can hear me somewhat. Is anyone else having the same problem? Any suggestions on fixing this issue? Is anyone having this issue with iphone 4's? Maybe it's a mic issue in my car. I haven't found a solution to this yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm tired of plugging in my earphones to use my phone in the car.

Looking for suggestions on upgrading stereo

I'm new to the forum and was hoping to find some suggestions for upgrading my stereo system. I have an 05 maxima, and I'm pretty sure my stereo is not a Bose. I have some 12" woofers that I was going to hook up using one of those RF converters plugged into the back speakers, but the guys at the sound shop said I should stay away from that technique because of poor sound quality. Has anyone had luck installing woofers with the stock Maxima head unit? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated...

I love my BOSE on my 04 Max but the 6 disk changer sucks. Sometimes while I'm driving and I use the breaks the sound only comes out of one side of the car. I even change to an aftermarket radio and I didn't have this problem. I put my Bose back in cuz the aftermarket dvd player had a brite blue screen.
