Type of headlight?

anyway to tell what headlight is in a 2004 SE without removing the front bumper like the dealer suggests. i'd like to get an idea of cost before they remove it. i understand there are 3 light potentials that could be in there.

Either its HID or its not. Hmm trying to think of a way for you to tell if you don't know what to look for...

Is there any blue output at all/any purple??

Curious what 3 potential? I thought either ds2(hid) or a halogen 9012.

it's either HIDs or regular halogen. if your light starts up blue then becomes whites then you have HIDs. if they just come on and remains a constant yellowish color you have the 9012 halogens.

Try to find a white surface at nighttime when turning on the lights to make it easier. Then you can find out as specified above.

If you have these on your car then you have the DPP (driver's preferred package) which includes HID's:
rear spoiler, memory drivers seat, power tilt/telescopic steering wheel with memory, memory outside mirrors that can also be folded electronically, driver seat power lumbar support, power entry/exit seat and heated steering wheel;

If u can feel with your finger under neath the lamp assembly, if u have HID, you will feel a metallic thing with fins under it, if u have hallogen..... you will feel a circle in the plastic where the hid ballast should be.

it'll take you about 15 - 20 mins to remove the front bumper. I had to remove mines atleast 3 times to swap out my HIDs.. No reason to spend the $$ @ the stealership.Good luck and let me know if you need some help.

3 potentials? WTF.

If anything I would think its 4.

US HID
US non-HID
Canada HID
Canada non-HID

Difference being that Canada counterparts have DRLs.

But I don't thinks it applies here.

See my post 10, did you check these thing out to figure it out? As for the dealer, you should be able to give them your VIN and they could tell you (assuming you weren't there, if you were and they didn't know then RUN from that dealer!!)

A little off subject but I wanted to replace my front turn signal lights and the only way it looks to do this is drop the bumper to get the headlights out. Any suggestions on this or how to drop the bumper. This is the only thing that I dont like about this car. Anyway, thanks.

I used a led bulb. Smoke or clear, are you talking about the lense or the bulb? Thought they had to be yellow?
