Coolant Smell
Coolant Smell
hey guys, i just got my car fixed after a Wreck [t-bone on pass side]. but now when i drive around and have the heat on, it smells like coolant is burning and coming through the vents. i cant figure out what it can be. i was thinking the heater core?

Same thing is happening to me. I recently changed my radiator cap so I'm assuming it's now creating more pressure in the system and a leak has formed. Are there any common places that I should start looking at for the leak?
hey i have the same exact prob with mine, i searched but found nothing on coolant smell.....i did se whisps of smoke coming out from behind the throttle body but when i felt the rad hoses the were dry.......i was told by a mechanic if it was the heater core it would be leaking on the inside of the fire wall and smelling constantly.....but thats not the case i smell it off and on and only when the heat is on and (outside air). i did see a little antifreeze on my garage floor in the front drivers side.
I just had a nasty coolant smell in my car. I was actually changing my oil at the time and i saw coolant on the bottom of my ac compressor.. Come to find out there was no coolant leak.. There was however a broken AC line which has a green dye that looks just like coolant.. I would have your mechanic sniff test/black light test for leaks on your ac.
