Does the 2004 have SS exhaust?
[QUOTE=Kryogen;6256350]So eventually it will fail and it's not covered under warranty right?
How long before it gets a hole from the rust? (Montreal qc canada, salt in the winter here :P)[/QU
Is this a serious question? WOW

at whoever did that for your dad...that is the ONE place my work told me to NEVER spray...once again
I quess that you had the Max since '04. Put it on the lift and check out the condition of the system. When it snows here in nyc and when it clears up I go thru the car wash and they pressure wash the under side of the car to get the salt off. Maybe you should do that once a week where you live.
My 2004 was exposed to the elements of Chicago for 3 years before I replaced it with the Cattman SS. It wasn't terribly rusted and no holes. I'd say it had a lot of life left in it. I'd still recommend replacing it with SS though...
I suspect the exhaust systems are aluminized.
My wife is as hard as anybody on exhaust systems. She starts her truck and drives 1 1/2
miles to work shuts off, back home for lunch, back to work, back home at night, 4-5 days per week. She does this 52 weeks a year, including during our midwest winters - with many mornings every year well below zero. She also drives to the nearest large town for shopping (8 miles) once a week.
Her '86 Ranger got a new exhaust from the cat back every two years.. Her '97 Nissan pickup was sold last summer (June '07) with 68,000 miles and the original exhaust.
Needless to say, I was very impressed.

When I removed OEM exhaust couple of months ago there was no sign of rust anywhere on the cans. In fact, the only thing that was rusty was steel part of the bracket on which the cans hang. I'd say at least 7-10 years before they corrode.
no nissan that i know of has stainless exhaust, mine ceartinally doesnt and still looks new...
all comes down to how you look after it, we have owned cars here that are 20 years old with orig exhausts on them, but obviously here we dont have salted roads.... just the usual coastal salt spray....
dads V35 and R34 you can see have been driven on salted roads back when they were in japan. R34 is from 2000 and the exhaust is still good ( its only been here in aus for 1.5 years
my skylines exhasut before i relplaced it with a new one was 5 years old and just has a tiny bit of discolouration on it
