I'm def in the same boat, the crimp just looks wack and takes away from one of the reasons for getting new exhaust.

The crimp doesn't bother me if it keeps it quiet inside and I keep my low end torque. This is a quality product from Nissan and Berk, I can say that much. The resonator is a straight through perforated core (I checked) and I assume the mufflers are as well (didn't shine a flashlight in yet). This thing fits like a glove.

Someone quick measure their stock pipe diameter and see if its 2 or 2.25 inches. I'm really curious since this is 2.5 inch all the way back. Cattman went from 2.5 to 2 inch at the split.

Make sure to check for drone

That seems to be an issue with aftermarket performance exhausts....

Just an FYI, I was able to do the entire install by floor jacking up the driver side rear wheel. I placed a jack stand under it for safety, I didn't feel like having the underside of my car be the last thing I see. Its only 8 bolts and 1 wire/nut to do the uninstall/install. The passenger rear muffler has the attached bolt and nut for the connection of the stock grounding wire (or whatever it is). Some of the bolts got rusty and were stubborn, but nothing a little breaker bar couldn't handle. This is easily something you can do in your own home.

Berk has it for $650 + shipping. I have the Nismo / Berk modified for Altima SE-R version. Its about an inch longer than the standard Nismo. Berk welded an inch long piece of stainless after the crimp to the Altima Nismo kit. This standard Nismo kit should fit, but might not position the mufflers as nicely as the SE-R kit. I would look at my side view pictures and imagine the standard kit with tips 1 inch farther back. Berk's price on the kit is a decent price. I'd email them about a group deal if you're interested in a bargain...

Here is where to buy:

Here is a picture I stole from another site that shows the welded on piece for the SE-R kit.

I'm interested in the crimp. Do you really think it helps low end torque? I mean if that's the case then why replace the stock Y pipe? I mean if restricted flow is better for low end torque then the stock y-pipe would seem to fit the bill. Did you happen to take any side by side pics of the Cattman and the Nismo exhaust? Seems to me a "crimp" in the Y-pipe or the crimp in the B pipe(?) would give the same result. I need some help in understanding it.

by adding the crimp, it helps increase back pressure which results in an increase in low-end tq

It doesn't help increase low end tq, it helps maintain the originally designed tq stats. Without the crimp, you give your car more lungs thus increasing the mid and high band HP/TQ which means on the road and on the highway your car has more *****, low end tq will help you off the line faster but a Max that can breath will catch you when rollin!!!

I'm going to get this thing on the dyno in a few weeks. Things that I've done since my previous dyno are UDP, grounding kit, and exhaust. Curious to see how it turns out.

I have a suspicion that the crimp may not have been there for anything other than ground clearance. I'm not an exhaust pro by any means but after reading this article http://www.team-integra.net/sections...p?ArticleID=47 a while back, and reading posts about the Greddy system causing a loss in low end torque, (piping too big) I think the key is just getting the right size pipes and keep it moving smoothly.

Yeah. Sounds real good driving away.

I just had it up to 100 mph on the highway on the way home from the in-laws. Sounded near silent. I heard more road noise than anything :/

2nd pic taken in post #132 show the two long pipes hanging quite low at the undercarriage. Are these pipes hanging lower than the stock pipes? Reason i am asking cos my driveway has this little irritating bump which i am afraid might scrape the pipes if it hangs lower than stock. Now with stock pipes, it is clearing just nice. Btw, how is the group buy coming along? And will i have issues with warranty with these new exhaust installed? I own a 06 SE with 30k miles.

I listened to the audio/video clips and I don't/can't hear anything different than my stock exhaust. So, to me, this is a cosmetic change from dual tips to singles. I mean they look great but the cost/benefit for me is not there. When my stock mufflers need changed from rust/wear I will go with the '08 OEM dual mufflers.

Thay hang down a little but if you are stock height no worries. Even if lowed the bump would have to be pretty big. The ground clearence is fine. I will be lowering her in a week or so still waiting for my springs to come. Your warrenty should be fine, a exhaust has never damaged a motor or tranny.
