08 Max SE lease deal - decent or can I do better?
Hello all,
My 2005 Alty SE-R lease is soon expiring and I'm negotiating on a lease for a 2008 Maxima SE precision gray with the sensory package, splash guards, moonroof w/wind deflector, floor/trunk mats.
On a 39 month lease, cap cost is 29700 (about 100 below invoice best I can tell) on a 32625 MSRP destination included, residual is 51%, money factor is 0.0019 according to the dealer. 1400 due at signing, which includes TTL and first month's payment, at 379/month.
Does anyone know if the current 2500 rebate on 2008 Max's applies to lease deals or only purchases? I can't get the dealer's numbers to add up unless I do include the 2500 rebate as follows:
Depreciation fee = 29700 - 2500 - 16338.75 / 39 = 278.50
Finance fee = 29700 -2500 + 16338.75 * 0.0019 = 82.72
Monthly lease payment = 278.50 + 82.72 = 361.22
Granted 361 is lower than 379 but it's in the ballpark.
My sense is to tell the guy to drop the 1400 due at signing to just the 1st month's payment, so if I add 1000 back into the cap cost:
Depreciation fee = 29700 - 1500 - 16338.75 / 39 = 304.13
Finance fee = 29700 - 1500 +16338.75 * .0019 = 84.62
Monthly lease payment = 304.13 + 84.62 = 388.75
379 is close enough, perhaps the dealer will bite since it's end of month.
Any thoughts as to whether this is a good deal or otherwise? Your input would be most appreciated!

personally- i would opt to purchase a nice, used 6th gen. i was able to get mine (04 SE) with 24K miles for $16,500. it was as close to new as new could get.
i love it... and my payment it a whopping $200/mo for 4 years.

And rebates don't apply to leases.
