And it was raining, so it appears darker than what it actually is.

The only time I get freaked out is going into NYC, probably cause NYCMAXIMAS.org has guys posting about tint tickets but I have never had the problem.

In NY 70% is legal (top 6 inches of front windshield and back window can be as dark as you want), anything darker is at your own risk but judge for yourself what you see most other cars with.

I would deff double check that, I am pretty sure the law changed about a year ago after some cops got shot pulling over a car with dark tints. I don't think your allowed to tint the front windows at all anymore. Not really a fan of tints anymore I know when i had my 4th gen black/black with dark tints I got pulled over a few time but always got out of it with id/badge.

I currently have 40% tint on my windshield and I think its too light! From the outside, you can tell its just LIGHTLY tinted. I didnt notice any difference with visibility... so next time, I'll probably go for like 30%. I got it tinted for $80 in the bay area... if someone's interested send me a pm... guys do a really good job!

i say if you get stopped u can always take it off and just do the other windows 5%. Or just tell them its PPG which doesnt look no more legal than a 30% windshield so just cuz its a high end car, they can get away with it? For the smart guys, you could actually see because light shines through the windshield first. i've never had it and i can tell you that off top. these org policeman sure knows every law that police might not even know themselves lol

oops
I hate to bring up a kinda old thread, but it seems to me (down south for instance GA) is getting less strict about tint. the legal limit is 35%. i knew it and got 15%....got pulled over the week after getting in on, told the cop that i had no idea and that i bought the car that way. he let me go no tickets, and ever since then i have never been messed with by a cop with once. going on 2 years now. and a buddy of mine has a silver maxima with 5% tint all around and a 20% tinted windshield. that tint sticks out and screams drug dealer due to the contrast (light silver with pure black windows) and hes going on 2 years strong now. if youre worried about the law, its all about where you live. but imo, there shouldnt even be a law against tint. to me it violates constitutional rights...if cops can have 15% and 5% tint, i should be able to as well. just had to get that off my chest.
