Removable Tray Under Front Armrest

I titled this thread incorrectly I meant to say "Removable Tray Under Front Armrest"

When I got my new 2008 Maxima aprox. three weeks ago I was surprised to find out the next day that a removable tray under the front armrest was missing. I knew there was supposed to be one there as I rented an 08 Maxima only two weeks earlier and noticed one under the armrest. I called the dealer and spoke to the salesman who said he would get me one. (I never heard back from him) A couple of days later I had to bring the car in to get the rear window switch replaced so I mentioned the missing tray to the service manager. They came back to me claiming there is no tray that goes under the armrest. I showed them a picture in the owners manual and we checked the specs on the web page which noted the "removable tray" and they still claimed there is no tray that goes under the armrest. Well it is two weeks later and they say they found out I was correct and they ordered it last Thursday but it is on back order so I may have to wait a while.

Strangely enough I called about five other Nissan dealers in my area and spoke with the parts dept. I got a different answer form each. One claims I had to order the entire armrest/console to get the tray; another says that only the 04 - 06 models had the tray, another says it only came with the premium package; another found it and would order me one for 21.00 and the last says there is no console tray (backing up what my dealer originally claimed)...

Am I imagining this tray? Do you guys out there with an 08 have a removable tray under the front armrest???

Could you just walk to a new 08 maxima on the dealership lot and show them that there is one?

Beleive it or not I suggested that to the Service Rep during a follow up phone call. He said that him and the parts manager checked the car on the floor and there was no tray... Interestingly enough I received a sattisfaction survey in the mail when I got home today. I will be sure to note the BS I am dealing with... I am sure they will be offering some discount coupons or a free oil change soon for my headache...

I have it in my 05 SE. They have got to have more than one maxima on the lot. Just go in there, take the tray from the one thats on the showroom floor, put in ur maxima and go home. LOL....

....OR you could try another dealer.

Yes, I have an 08... If you lift your front armrest there should be a removable tray that you can put stuff in. If you lift it out there will be additional storage below it.. I do not have a pic but look in your owners manual and you will see a sketch of what I am talking about... I'm not sure of the page but it is in the section that mentions the console / armrest I believe..

Ok, I retract my comment. I just noticed it after I read this! I do have the tray, that thing is like hidden I never notice it was a tray. I was complaining when when I first seen the front armrest I had an 03 altima. the front arm rest was more deeper and now I see why, lol.

Yea, I think you should go on the lot yourself and act like youre trying to get a different color maxima and look in the arm rest. Then show it to them. BTW, I have a 04 SL so you're 08 should have it.

I actually wound up purchasing the tray from another dealer for $20.00. It agrevated me so much that I sent a two page letter of complaint along with the survey I sent back to Nissan. I can care less about the $20.00 but the fact that I still have not gotten any response from my dealer yet really bites... Now they will learn the power of the pen.

well you probably don't want to... but definitely do not go to that dealer again for service. they will hold a huge grudge against you for the survey.

If that is true, then Nissan needs to update the '08 Maxima Interior Specs page on their website, which still lists...
"Center console with removable tray in armrest"
...as a standard item for both SL & SE.

It does list the "Side Cargo Nets" as standard for both trims, but not the large center one. That did come with my '07 SE.

I have an 08 SL and it didn't come with a removable tray. I will be contacting the dealer I purchased the car from. I hope I don't run into issues like you did. Why is it so freaking difficult for dealers to just give you what you paid for. You spend over 30k on a car and they wont give you the $20 part that is suppose to come with it in the first place. Freaking sick man!!! Why do they charge for floor matts. It's dumb. Like that's an aftermarket product... What are they going to think of next....

For anyone interested the actual part number for this removable tray for the 08 model is 96925ZK30C...

Sounds like cost-cutting to me. And double-check the fine print on the '08 brochure, I'm quite certain it's got the typical "specifications subject to change without prior notice" jargon. All that Nissan and/or the dealer has to do is wave that flag and it's pretty much game-over.

As for the slow dealer response - that's a real shame. And sadly that's a trend that is becoming all too familiar. Track down a different dealer (even if it's a longer drive) and look for one that has some kind of customer service excellence award - I can't remember what Nissan calls it. It's not a guarantee that they'll take better care of you but they do strive to hang on to those awards, so they've got more to lose than the dealers without the award.

Good luck.

I think I threw mine out. You could have had it if you wanted it. lol. It was especially a waste for me because that is the only place I charge my phone and it was getting in the way.
