It seems that all my struts are bad as well and the suspension in the car is garbage. I have had the car about 1 month now and I want to change the suspension completely. What do you guys recommend to keep it a "stock" ride?

well, now it is great to hear that my stock suspension is suppose to be "sport" suspension. So if i wan to change to more comfortable ride, what shocks should i change to? Don't Scream, can i mention Monroe shocks? I want to keep my OEM springs. I cannot go any lower, as my driveway has a bump and it is clearing just fine now.

60,000 sounds low to me. I collect vehicle reliability data, and don't hear of many strut replacements under 100k.

But as others have said, road conditions make a big difference. I'd actually expect more wear from washboard surfaces / unpaved roads than from potholes. Not a big jolt, but constant movement.

This is not easy to answer on this site. Most members here want the opposite -- a stiff, flat ride through the corners. I still have OEM struts and no experience with changing -- but I've read a number of threads on this site and you are the first to want a softer ride (other than those who bought a SL Max for its softer ride).

There are some after-market struts that are adjustable, and you could adjust them to get the softest ride they offer. Another option would be to put SL struts and shocks in your SE -- I assume they will fit. But the softer SL ride is based on a combination of struts/shocks, springs and tires -- and you would only be changing one of those.

Another option that will only cost you tire-wear and poorer gas mileage is to run your tires at a lower air pressure. Most here keep their SE tires at between 32 and 35 psi (I do 32). So try going to 30 psi (or even 28 psi). This will give you a slightly softer ride but also cause your tires to wear out faster on the edges of the tread and also reduce your gasoline mileage.

You can also invest is some sway bars. I have the 04 SL and it still has a crazy body roll. After installing the sway bar it definitely cut down on the body roll.

A sway bar (or in the SE installing a heavier sway bar -- which I did) will not make the ride less jarring or smoother. It will reduce the sway that occurs in the curves.

I am leaning towards the Monroe Sensa-Trac for my 04 SL on Progress Springs. I am afraid the GR2s will be too stiff for my liking. The ride is already stiffer with the lowereing springs but highway driving is a dream now. City driving....... sucks b/c my right strut is blown again. So most road imperfections that my right tire hits rattle all the way to the steering wheel. (Left side tire hits a bump and it is smooth and handles the bump like it should.) Its like the 5th set of OEM struts that I have and I am only at 3 years and 38,000 miles. I think the Monroe Sensa-Trac offers the same ride quality as the OEM but it is made to better quality standards AND has a lifetime warranty. (How's that taste Nissan?) A strut made to last the lifetime of the car, remarkable.

hehe..yea, i cannot imagine me requesting for a softer ride. I guess it must be age catching up. In the past, my cars are stiffer the better. But now, i get a bad headache after a long trip in Maxima. And the road in GB, Wis is really bad after the wicked winter.

The coilovers are an option with adjustable damping. But it sure will costs me.

Thank you that I am not the only one who is considering Monroe shocks.
I just got back from the dealer asking them to check the suspension. The tech returned the car and the job sheet remark was "suspension is ok after a test drive"..i am like...did u jack up the car to see any leak in the shocks!?!? he blamed the hard ride to my Goodyear Ultra performance tires for the jiggly ride.

So i am stuck with my ride.
