cryo-stop rotors + hawk pads from TR - good mix?

hey all, need to change the front brakes on my 04.

Was looking on Tirerack.com and was going to order the Cryo-Stop Rotors & Hawk HPS Street brake pads (Material: Composite).

Anyone using this combo? what do you think? suggestions?

Car is just driven around town - no tracking, etc.

the oem stuff looks like complete junk - my stock rotors are warped and the stock pads are gonzo.

I care about stopping power and longevity - the cryo rotors are getting good reviews & the hawk street pads seem to have the best city stopping power review.

Centric is the main company makes brake rotors and I believe so many moms and pops companies buys Centric rotors in a lot with very cheap price and tweak them (slot, dimple, drill) to sell them with their own price. I believe powerslot is now also one of their higher end rotors. Hawk HPS will give you damn good breake bite and stopping experience but if those pads are not sitting right will drive you crazy with the braking noise. Alternative to Hawk HPS is Posi Quiet Semi Metalic with equal or higher bite and stopping power. Also Hawk HPS does not come with the shims while all Posi Quiet pads comes with shims.

Check this about powerslots:
http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/31/c...-brake-family/

I would get something else like rotorpros (same centric rotors) with almost half the price. I have used both powerslots and rotorpros and in my personal experience, I did not find any huge difference between both. But then again its just my experience about both powerslots and rotorpros rotors does not mean one should not buy powerslots.

If you care much about stopping power, look for axxis ultimate. More dust but trad off with good stopping power is way huge.

Final decision is of course yours.

whats wrong with the cryos? they seem to be getting good reviews in this forum and elsewhere, also only 8$ more than the brembo stuff. The stock brembos on my maxima are warped, not sure if the ones sold on on the tirerack will wap easily as well - hence why I was going to get the cryos. Not sure if slotted rotors make sense for what I am doing.

I am in Windsor, Ont, CDN - was going to drive down to the tirerack in south bend, Ill to get the stuff as it is only about 1.5h outside of Detroit.

Nothing OEM on the maxima is Brembo. Also note, that I have a set of Rotorpros cross drilled/slotted rotors with the Posi quiet semi-metallic pads and they will stop on a dime. One of the best investments I've made for my car, and has saved my life alot. I would recommend them to anyone.

I always forget when you put new brakes on a car they feel like nothing like you want then a 1000 miles later they really start to impress you I've gotten several compliments just cause the rotorpros have such a shine, usually from guys with 20's and OEM rotors that looks like hell

Rich at rotorpro is a very good person to deal with. He can give you best possible deal for rotors and pads if available to him. I will buy again from him if needed for my maxima without looking at somewhere else. For regular stop & go king of everyday driving, rotorpro rotors are way more than what you need.

Brembos are NOT OEM. They just come in OEM size.

I have RotoPros and I am very happy with them.

I heard once that the theory of Cryo's is good but because they will freeze them they use sub-par blanks to begin with? Any truth?

Powerslots + Hawk HPS will cost $500 for rotors & pads to United States (not to cdn though)
$310 cdn for rotorpro + pads = good price
