so my rear bumper got swiped today..

My rear bumper got swiped today, now there is a deep black scratch on the side of the rear bumper. Just wondering if i should replace the entire bumper or try this https://www.duplicolor.com/duplicolor/step1.php . I can buy the bumper for about $200 online, but how much would it be to have it painted and installed? My car is a 04' silver so is it going to look uneven from the rest of the car?

sorry to hear that man, I had the same thing happen to my 07 max about a month ago. I have a friend who owns a body shop and he just repainted the whole bumper for $250. It actually worked out good cause it was the front bumper, so he filled in the holes for the license plate also, which i hated seeing. It was worth the money.

Depending on how deep the scratches are, u can usually just buff the scratches then repaint, but if the scratches are deep, I would just get a new bumper.

Your decision would depend on the amount of damage, if its superficial paint damage no need to replace. Now if your bumper is cracked then replacement would be necessary. Pics would definitely help if you are unsure (as close up as possible). $200 also seems a lil on the high side for a replacement bumper. If OEM is a must have and you cant find a deal new, look for used bumpers that would just need a respray. Btw for some reason the silver, I assume because of the metal in it, makes it difficult to match. If you are super **** about your car (like me), for a seem less match shops will blend paint into other body parts as well (of coarse increasing the repair price). Since my bumper only had minor scratches from license plate screws I had them respray that area and blend it in with the rest of the bumper... most people would have just let it be or use touch up paint.

Buy an 07 bumper instead, it's a direct bolt up fit!!!

I have a question. My front bumper has a wide scratch on it. I know that it has not gone through the paint, it just makes it like a whitish color from the rubbing. My question is what type of paint would be best to cover up the scratch for my black 06 maxima? Any suggestions or brands would be great help.
