Spoiler Installation

The stock 2004-2006 spoiler. Can a garage install this, or do you have to take it to the Nissan dealership, & pay way too much for installation?
I've wanted 1 since I got this car 10 months ago, but I'm afraid of them messing it up since you have to drill holes in the trunk. (I'm afraid of rust, & scratching the paint getting the nissan logo off.) Does a new Nissan logo come with the spoiler, or do they use the old one on the car?

And YES doing it myself is out of the question, so dont ask.

isnt it stuck on by double sided tape?

why wouldnt you want to do this yourself?????

this job is easier than having my gf look for her keys in her purse

Is the 2007-2008 spoiler drilled on? I noticed I wouldn't have to mess with removing the Nissan logo on that 1, but now there's wiring issues, and having 2 rear tail lights would look odd???

The 04-06 OEM Trunk Lip does need holes to be drilled into the trunk. The 07-08 OEM Trunk Spoiler also needs holes to be drilled into the trunk. I think they both use double sided tape as well for a tighter fit. Also, wiring the spoiler brake light is a piece of cake.

Actually the aftermarket but OEM style lip spoiler for the 04-06 is stick on only. No holes need to be drilled. So it can be a DIY installation.

My brother installed my OEM lip spoiler on my max and it was a little tricky even with template they give you. I would say if you're not comfortable with drilling holes or do not have all the right tools, get it done by any body shop. It shouldn't cost as much as taking it to a dealership, which is gonna rip you a new one!

Can I install the spoiler without drilling holes, and just stick it on with the adhesive it comes with? Will this stay on properly. I don't wan't holes in my trunk.

I went to my local "stealership" and they gave me both options. After finding out the price I decided to go to my local guy here that did it for me. He also gave me both options, so you can do either dude.

Ciao

I think most all are the 3M adhesive for body moldings like that.

So I can install an oem lip spoiler with just the adhesive, & it will stay on? Anyone try this? Does a new nissan logo come attached on the spoiler, or do you use the one on car now? What do you use to get the glue off the car, and is fishing line used to remove the logo?

My spoiler was put on with adhesive. It's been stuck on for about 4 years now. Through heat and cold temperatures. No issues with the 3M tape they used.

Does the 3M adhesive come with the spoiler, and does a nissan logo come with it already attached to the spoiler?

I emailed a seller on EBAY for an oem spoiler (107.00 dollars) for my 2004 Maxima. It apparently comes with the 3M tape adhesive, (screws also, but heard there not necessary to use from people on here, and I dont want it if I have to drill holes) but no nissan logo because its an aftermarket part. What do I use to get the nissan logo thats on my car now to stick to this spoiler, and what do I use to get rid of the old glue on car? (goo gone maybe)

Recent purchased 04-08 spoiler off ebay

I got a chance to install my factory spoiler for 07-08 with LED stop light.

Have to say.... the instructions that came with mine are generic....

really want to know what happened? I drilled 5 holes total , 2 on each side and 1 in the center for the brake light.

The package came with only 3 screws and 3 rubber washers. 3 screws , 5 holes... something is missing right?

Already have drilled the wholes ( with the crappy templates) I had realized there were 2 extra holes that didn't have thread of them....

Overall it took me 4 hours to install the freakin thing with the crappy templates they had.

My LED backup isn't even working yet. It seems the wiring was reversed and it blew a fuse in my back light.

Not to mention you need a ton of equipment to get this done.

You need a
1. #3 unibit - home depot for 28 bucks
2. a mutli speed drill
3. Masking tape
4. Drop cloth for all the crap you'll be drilling off
5. They recommend a center punch but I used a small drill bit to start the hole
6. Some 3M double sided adhesive from home depot (6 bucks)
Total cost - 50 bucks ( not including a drill) PLUS 2 extra holes ( which I ducted taped)

WARNING - MIGHT WANT TO GET SOME EXTRA RUST PROOF AGENTS

Want might to get a factory OEM spoiler from the dealer for 350 rather than deal with half *** spoilers from ebay with crappy instructions.

Here is the link I purchased from :http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...245875889&rd=1

Be glad to help anyone trying or about to do this project. It's not fun without the right tools...

Sorry to bring a dead horse back to life, but I am looking to purchase a spoiler for my '05 Liquid Silver Max. As we all know, there a many ebay companies who offer these spoilers. I want to make sure I am getting the right one, the one closest to OEM. Here are a few links, please tell me which company is better.

I am going to be order this weekend, since I was re-ended last night and have to get my bumper buffed and repainted. I might as well let the person's insurance pay for putting my spoiler on too. It's a good thing, I'm close friends with the guy who owns the body shop.

Thanks....
