Ok installed it on Saturday the idle was a little low but I know the ECU may have had to learn the new air flow so dove it for 4 days and yesterday the check engine light came on and now the idls is high about 1100 in drive!! I tried to reset the light by taken the negtive battery cable of for 10 minutes last night but the light stayed on. Also my security on the dash( Factory red light) dosent blink anymore just stays on solid red. I thought it was to blink after you shut of and lock the car?? Anyway just looking for some ideas on what the CEL might be..

 

Sure, we could have ideas, but a short trip to AutoZone and their code reader will tell you exactly what the code is. Way better than guessing.

 

I know just looking to see if anyone has had the same problem. I will be going to my freinds shop saturday to use his scan tool" used to be a tech" so I can reset it with that and veiw the code so just I hate driving over there to use it.. Lazy.. LOL.

I know a guy who put a nismo in with the maf portion in upsidedown, and he got the cel light. Turned it to the way its supposed to be and the light went away after unplugging the battery for 20 mins.

 

you probably have the maf intake tube turned backwards.... lol it happens to the best of us...

 

I installed mine backwards the first time and the car ran horrible. I went one block, turn around, went home and put the MAF in the right way. I'm thinking if it was in backwards you wouldn't be driving it. You may be running a little lean, I had that code one time after installing a CAI. Go to Autozone and have the pull and clear the code for you.

 

i havent had a problem with mine since I installed it... no lights, no idle problem... (knock on wood). I'd re-check the install again bro... you'll be fine

 

checking the install would be my best advice for you

 

OK guys I rechecked all the piping last night sprayed carb cleaner all over the pipes and the idle did not change at all. I will recheck the MAF and make sure It's in the rightway. I assume there is a arrow or something to tell which way the air us to flow.

 

Ok I knw the MAF being is wrong is out I just looked at Macfreak's pics of his install and I know my MAF is the same way as his. So possiable just I'm running lean. I will be pulling the code tommorow am at my friends shop. Thanx alot guys..

Ok guys had the code pulled on Saturday but I had to leave right after and did not get home till late last night. The codes were for the security system and had nothing to do with the Nismo CAI( Thank god) Thats why the security light was staying on red and not blinking and my wife had told me that she has had trouble sometimes remote starting the car( It would start and stall and then not start) Ok long story she lost the key 10 days ago white water rafting( Yes she took the key on the boat, flipped the boat and key goes bye bye) So we have been driving the car with a valet key and remote starting it evertime, PIA. We did not have time to go to the dealer and get a key programed till Saturday Am. So now we good but atleast the codes were not a MAF or idle code, Just security issues. Thanx for the input guys..

 

Also the car pulls harder since the install the butt dyno can definitly feel a difference.

 

do you have any video of how it sounds i want to buy one and was planning on getting nismo but would like to know how it sounds before i do.

has anybody tried the apexi filter on the nismo cai, I have one for my alti and was just wondering if anybody has tried it...from my understanding, the apexi filter is supposed to yield really good gains(filter wise that is)
