Tire Problems

rear tires on my 04 maxima are going bad...got it checked and found out that due to the car being lowered has caused this problem. the problem with the tires is that it has inflation in the middle part and the inner sides but not the outer side....discount tires representative told me its called "cupping in tires".
is it true??

iv got the car lowered with the eibach pro kit and kyb shocks.. also i got a brand new set of toyo proxes4 255/45/18 which have gone bad in 4 months....

the above statement from the discount tires rep. is it true?
what is the solution?
need help!!!!

Sounds like non alignment of the car after the drop or misalignment after the drop.

I doubt if it's cupping at this point.

Just put more air in the tires. I have 40psi in my General HP tires. The recommended 32psi never worked for the car after I lowered it.

cupping comes more from misalignment than if you dont have the proper psi in your tires..if you have less tread in the center than you do on the outside, then you have too much pressure, if its wearing faster on the outsides then they are under inflated. cupping looks and feels choppy, if they are cupped then get it aligned, we have full adjustments on the rear end. the only issue with that is if you slammed it too far then it may not be able to get in spec with the stock adjustments. cupping also comes from bad shocks, but since you replaced them..well thats not an issue.

"Diagonal scuffing and cupping across the face on rear tires signals problems with toe. Diagonal tread wear or cupping on rear tires is caused when the direction the vehicle's wheels are heading is not in line with the geometric center line of the vehicle. When this condition occurs, front-wheel steering can be affected and lead to tire slip or loss of traction or control. (Note: The wear pattern that develops on rear tires from improper toe will vary depending on tread design. Wear patterns from rear-wheel misalignment may resemble cupping on tires with highway tread design and diagonal scuffing on tires with an all season tread pattern.)"

alignment definetly. as far as the tires, it depends on how bad they are worn..if any part of your tires are bald or close then yes. if there is just a little bit worn then the tread will even out with a good alignment, you will just have some road noise for a while until they do.

got the alignment done....huge difference....less vibration....have to even out the wear that was caused on one side by the bad alignment....tooo much road noise though!!!
