Ok, I'm sending them back! lol

Here are the pics as promised!

Couldn't get a very good pic of the dust on my finger (I think I got rid of most of it trying to take the darn pic lol)... it's mostly where the EGR port is... wasn't as bad as I first thought, but a few blasts of compressed air at the shop should do the trick!

Another question (of course)... the stock gaskets for the smaller piping that goes into the lower manifold (not the part that goes to the b/y-pipe/whatever)... should be ok?

Well, Friday, I got a 2nd box... the other half of the headers... Duh... I was wondering why there were two gaskets for the one piece. Forgot there'd be a second piece. lol

Only pics of the first piece with the EGR valve were posted. Blond moment.

Full Cattman Exhaust

Got the Catback installed already and the headers are being installed today. Got the Y pipes on the way. Should be here on monday. I wonder how much HP to the wheels I'll get with the full Cattman exhaust (and of course a high flow CAI) Any thoughts?

I est 20-25hp, 25+hp with Dyno Tuning!!!

The reason I make this statement is because when we installed the HotShot Headers, Y-pipe with High flow cat and GReddy SP-II full catback, Injen CAI and Unorthodox Lightweight racing pulley and put it on the Dyno for tuning with an APEXi Super AFC-II the first pull was 236whp, tuned, 2nd pull 242whp, tuned, 3rd pull 256whp and I have an Automatic, when you take into consideration the est 20% loss to the wheel that's over 305+hp at the crank!!! A stock max is 255 crank hp. Add an NWP Engineering U/L IM spacer kit and you could easily be in the 315hp range!!!

Well I normally keep my cars until the wheels fall of. Had my last car 15 years and 261,000 miles so plan on the same for this one.

So I guess when my warranty runs out this would be a good mod for me.

So I don't have to worry about then pre-cat failure.

The hell with warranty lol.. Most Nissan techs are idiots, well at least around here they are. A few places around here said they hadnt even seen an Altima SE-R and I asked how the hell is that possible if you guys make and sell the car? Perfect example right there.

Anyways the headers look great and I cant wait until I get mine on my door step and then get them on the car. It should really wake it up N/A and when I flip the switch

headers installed!

So 7 hours later, the headers are installed. I was really pleasantly surprised to find out that I had gained quite a bit of torque at the mid range. The exhaust definitely gained a more mature, raspy note to it. For those going to install the headers + Y pipe w/ cat, remember that the wiring harness for the 02 sensors will need to be extended if you intend to reposition them after the cat in the y pipe IOT keep the CEL from going off. Really pleased with these headers. A great buy!

Okay, CEL came on today. P0420 Pre-cat failure bank1.

Time for me to join the header club. I am going to re-read this thread but I'll take any addition advice anyone wants to give.

BTW, 1 less than a year old Cattman Y-pipe w/o catalytic converter will be going up for sale. I am 2005 5speed automatic. I'm going to buy a y-pipe with the cat built in since I will be losing the pre-cats

Thanks in advance.

Talked to PurposeSoap, if we don't close on the Y-pipe, I'll post it in the classified with pics.

I really hope the headers and Y-pipes aren't on back order....

Are there any pics of this? How is everyone extending the harness?

Yup, and all he does is deal with aftermarket installations on imports. The reason why it takes so long is because the exhaust manifold is recessed to a location where, to get to it, you need to take half the front end off. Everything went well though. He said it probably would have been easier to drop the tranny to install the headers.

The O2's, no, installing the headers, a little more elbow grease needed for that one! LOL

Yeah it'd be best to just drop the subframe. Hopefully I'm not waiting around for 7 hours on Thursday. lol

It's best to drop the subframe, remove the hood and the assembly cover just below the windshield.

Nah... the guy doing the install is solid. He's actually a mechanic at an Acura dealer, and he's doing the install after the garage closes.

Lawn chair and cooler anyways. lol

Yeah, there really is a noticeable power increase. IDid you notice a nice mid-range torque increase as well? 'm getting the Y pipe installed today, hopefully there will be a nice difference after that too

Most definitely! If only I had access to a dyno, and the $ for it... id post some numbers... lol

The y-pipe alone was a great upgrade as well! With the headers... even better!

Alright, so Y pipe installed today. Extended the harness so that my 2 O2 sensors were positioned right after the CAT, reset the ECU, started the engine and the CEL lit up. When I checked the codes, it gave me low voltage on the O2 heater. I know the wires were lengthened properly (with the wire spitters that you crimp and shrink with a heat gun), the wire gauge was a little bigger than the stock wires, but not by much, and just enough wire was added, not more. Any Ideas as to what the problem may be?

So is there a verdict on if O2 sims work for 05+ maximas? I feel that it may take care of the problem that quitmanchris is having.
