So it finally happened....

JUST had the utec tuned also.... TRANNY IS BLOWN. Im on drive and it feels like its on NEUTRAL. IT DOES NOT MOVE AT ALL. when you turn off the engine and turn it back on itll drive for like 10 seconds and die out again. so what is it though> clutch packs? torque converter? i have 60k warranty on transmission but what will they say about the mods? AND messing with the ecu. Anything i can do? anyone work at nissan in the ny area that can help me out?

Strip the modes and play dumb. Maybe go pull an old ECU out of a junk yard..... All that effort will be way cheaper than a new transmission.

If it's a factory warranty I say take it to the dealership the way it is. I doubt they'll be snooping around the ECU.

Your tune put the ECU protection mode. You need to get that fix. It's not your trany.

Protect mode would not totally disable the transmission. It may prevent you from rev'ing past 3000rpms...

It could cut the throttle. I had similar problem when TS was tuning my ECU with the more advance 350Z tune. Max's ECU has more limitations than 350Z's. The tuner that tuned his UTEC may not know that.

i think factory tranny warranty is 60k i could be wrong. go check it out at a dealer.

bish-thanks man i found a guy to do it already for a "steal" haha nothing really illegal though more like going around the system.

yeah now that i think about it ive been thru protect mode before... when i first installed my headers the car wouldnt go past 3k rpm. but its so weird because my tranny wasnt THAT bad. it was slipping and shifting hard and acting funny when i throw it on reverse to drive but it wasnt that bad... actually hmm maybe it was.

Now my new question is EDGERACING HIGH STALL TORQUE CONVERTERS? GOOD? bad? hurt my tranny more?

You don't know until you see what the dealer says. It is worth a shot.

i had a similar "protect mode" issue. i was driving out of a gas station after going through the car wash and the transition from the road to the gas station parking lot was more dramatic then i thought and i just bumped the bottom of the sub fame enough to notice, and when i went to accelerate the car wouldn't go past 3000 RPM and seemed like the rev limiter was going crazy. i limped it home ( 10 blocks? ) and shut it off, looked for anything leaking and started it back up again and haven't had a problem since. i think they have it in there so if you are in a car accident you cant drive off as easily, or will panic and shut it off so stop from doing further damage.
