very strange problem today

very strange problem today

so i go out at 7am and get in my car- it cranks but didnt start.... so i crank again and.... nothing.

third time the car starts, slightly high idle and i let it sit for about a minute or so and drive off. i get about 1/8th mile away from my house and the car started to sputter, no power at all, shifts WAY abnormal and it eventually stalled.... and wouldnt start.

i tried a few times to turn it over and the couple times it DID start, the idle was very, very low and i heard slight popping in the intake/airbox.

the weird thing is there was no check engine light at all.

after about 30 minutes of sitting on the side of the road, i gave it one more shot and it started- idled erratic for a few seconds and leveled off... and it was fine from there on.... power was fine, shifting fine, idle was fine.

i took it to my buddies shop and he scanned it- but with no CEL, there wouldnt be codes.

wtf?

MAF possibly bad or dirtly. Mine acted like the when I installed my Nismo CAI and put the MAF backwards. Doh!

sounds like bad gas.... not reading the right mixture which can be caused by bad gas or malfunctioning MAF. Buy some Seafoam spray and clean the intake manifold and buy some MAF sensor cleaner and clean that thing. Also get a bottle of Lucas fuel additive/Tune up in a bottle.

as i sat in my car and thought about it (as i was broken down) i had the problem narrowed down to a cam or crank sensor, or the MAF
