Key fobs

I just broke my third one.

Is there any solution to keep them from cracking at the top?

First off I don't hang anything on the key fob like extra keys because it's only plastic and will not take much abuse from other heavy keys hanging on the end of it and putting preassure on that area. I keep a seperate key chain for my house keys and work keys and I don'y really have anything other than change in the same pocket as the key fob.

My key fob is over 2 years old and I have personally had it for just over a year and no problems. I carry it in my pocket except for when I am at work sitting behind a desk all day then it's in my desk drawer until I go some where.

Not sure what you are doing for yours to break so much.

no for real though buy another one off ebay< alot cheaper than the dealership. then find a rubber cover for it. if they don't have them I am sure you could start a market making them.

Um try to take care of it? I still have the same key fob from '96 in almost perfect condition except you can't see the little symbols on the buttons anymore.

Put the fob(s) on a smaller ring.

I carry my keys in my back pocket and broke a couple cases when I had the bigger ring on.

I havent broken one since...

If you notice, the top fob is broken on the front side. It hasent changed with the smaller ring.

Must be the smaller ring thing.

My 96 and 00 never had a problem - had both of them for years.

My Ungo remote start for my truck is older than the current key fob - also fine.

The fob that came with the car was broken...and I have since broken a few. Not a huge deal as they are pretty cheap on eBAY. I just assumed it was a common problem since many of the eBAY descriptions I've seen reference them being an item that breaks easily.

on a side note about extra keys. all that extra weight prying on the internals of the ignition lock cylinder is not good for it. we have changed a lot in customers work vehicles where they have about 17 pounds of keys for work and the tumblers take a beating. usually causing the cylinder to remain in the lock position and hard to turn or a key stuck in the ignition, when the tumblers wear the guides they slide in and jam crooked inside not releasing the key. i keep my house key and car keys on one ring and others on a separate ring with this disconnect thing. i unclick teh car keys when im in he car and put my other keys in the cubby hole in front of the shifter

How many keys would be excessive?

I've got two key fobs....car key, truck key, house key, shop key, an electronic key, and a carabiner as seen in the picture.

Since were on the topic... has anyone heard of anyone using another type of key fob on a max? For example V dubs can use a Bentley key fob... Can Max's use Bentley key fobs? If so, can it be programmed to be used to open doors, trunk, alarm etc?
