Adding a Sub to the BOSE stereo

Whats up everyone maybe you seen my post about purchasing the 07 Max. Havent picked it up yet but hopefully it will happen soon.

Question is though, hows the Bose stereo, will I be satisfied with the sound if I add a sub. I have a 12" Kicker sub from my previous car and a 1000 what amp. Im thinkin bout just adding the sub will I get decent sound from the rest of the system?

I don't like adding subs to any stock head unit because you can't control the bass as well. In my past I always seemed to have too much bass and not enough highs if I added a sub to stock. IMO

the stock bose has decent bass factory. I had a 15" kicker comp cvr running off my bose hu and it sounded good, however; id recomend sealing the trunk with dynamat or a similar product, these cars tend to rattle.

youll be ok with the 12, just set the bass low on the amp so when you max out the hu you wont blow the sub. It takes time to tweak the lvls, but once you do its fine.

Or you can go with a JL amp with the RBC **** option.

i have a 12" type r with an alpine amp...hooked up to the bose through the back speakers with the rca adapter. had it professionally done at a car audio shop..I control the bass through the radio. it sounds very clear. not to much rattle, when i first turned it up i was very surprised how great it sounded.

Yea you can just tap into the stock bose rear deck speakers/subs and itll pretty accurately pull the sound from there. i have a good condition line-out converter if you need one.

factory bose has good bass output. I sold off my kicker comp 15 due to that fact, plus everything in the car started to rattle.

I am just about to do the same thing to my 07SE. Does ur headunit have the NAV?? Cuz mine does and I wonder if it makes any difference? I plan on having it professionally installed by having it tapped into the back speakers. I'll let ya know how that goes. Good post BTW.

the install is a piece of cake. anybody can do it. Just take a spice connector, that allows two wires to tap into eachother without having to cut the factory wire, and run two wires from the two factory subs right to the new amp. I would leave the bose subs in and the new sub. more base different notes concidering you will have 8in subs and 12in subs. this is what I had in my car for a year before upgrading everything. Dynomat is a must. I also removed the tail lights and put weather striping in between the lights and the car. Ohh and I took the trunk center piece out and did the same as the lights. I also took off the back bumper and did the same there. I have about $300+ in insulation. No rattle except the damn review mirror. Tried taking it off and tightening it but just rattled itself loose again about a week later. One thing I don't like about all the base is my side mirrors and review mirror shake so much I can't tell a car from a Semi. Everything is just a blur. Have to turn it down to a quarter to back up the car. Post some pics when you are done guys curious to see what options people are going with.

Ohh finding a ground point can be a pain. Use a multimeter and check for the best ground point. I use the seatbelt bolts under the back seat. Easy to get to and no drilling needed. Power wire is easy to run and so is the acc wire. I would tap into the acc wire from the factory amp. I can't remember if that is where I had it before but sounds like what I would do so try that. Definitly run your own power wire though. I would use a 2 or 4 guage for your setup. buy enough for the length of the car plus 2 feet. Use what you need for power then the rest for ground or buy a different color for ground doesn't matter really. When I did my install I noticed the headlights dimmed alot when the bass hit so I made a grounding kit and bought a optima yellow top and that took care of the issue. hope this helped.
