you decided to go through the insurance?

It might be better to just pay out of the pocket especially if its only a bumper cover and bumper reinforcement.

Figured

$300 for new oem cover
$250 paint, materia ls, and labor
$200 reinforcement

Replace the parts yourself --- free

Grand Total about $750

You can actually drop that down a hundred or two is you shop arount for used parts.

Anyways, good luck.

the damage was done when I read that statement with no periods. Glad your fine.. Always try to avoid insurance if you can. You should be able to get less than $750 like he said as compared to your rates going up

a hit that hard, wouldnt surprise me if you cracked your radiator support. its pretty common in the maxima's/altimas. it takes a decent amount of force to bend the reinforcement that much.

id keep an eye on your coolant level and make sure you're not leaking anything.. never know! i do body work and ive seen some crazy stuff happen from small hits like this!

atleast you're ok!

If you don't go through insurance, you'd better get a written agreement from the person you hit. Not calling the police and not going through insurance can backfire tremendously.

This girl was drinking and hit my sister. They had a verbal agreement not to turn it in on insurance. The girl turned around and reported the incident later stating my sister had hit and ran.

Be careful about this.

Your right I should have called the Police I just wasn't thinking I was just
worried about my car. Anyways either way im going to have to spend money
out of pocket, this sucks because it's also a noticeable gap on the left side
of the my hood where it meets my headlight. I just hope when I piont
this out to the adjuster they don't give me ****

I hate to do this but .
Glad your alright, cars are fixable people are not. I've learned that 95% of drivers are bad drivers so its crutial that the good drivers pay attention. Idiots

Written Agreement ...

Have you reported your bump-up yet? Better do it before the other party does. Trust me, this won't go well for you.

As for your car, I'm glad you are OK. But frankly, I can't see where it's that much damage to it. I thought that it was totaled or something. I'm glad that it's not worse. However, I also can relate, just knowing that it's not like it was before would worry me too.

I almost got rammed into the other day going over to my boyfriend's house in his 05 Maxima. He had just bought the car and I was following him home in it. Some women with big coke bottle shades on driving a modified Mustang was trying to get a closer look at his car. The stupid 'heifer' almost drove right into me. I had to get off the road to keep her from hitting me. That was the dumbest thing to happen to me in a while concerning a car.

Ooo! That sounds like a workable thread.

Ah bro, you need to be careful! I was getting a little hot headed one day when a guy in a honda prelude who cut me off, zoomed off next to me, so I got mad and floored it. I was busing looking at my speedometer when I noticed a car right in front of me stopped all of a sudden to turn left and thank goodness the person moved forward a little bit or I would have had rear-ended the person.

You can realign that hood. If you took that to me to get fixed I would charge you $750 for a new hood and realign the old one. Maybe take a few minutes to buff out the scratches. Open the hood loosen the 4 bolts holding the hood to the bracket and then align and tighten. I recommend having someone help you.

bumper covers

I know this isn't applicable to your case but maybe some others ...

I backed into my Mom's Impala. Didn't do a thing to her car but totally collapsed my drivers rear corner of the bumper. I coulda put my head in the dent! You've seen the hondas and nissans driving around like that. That cover is SO flimsy. I tried popping it out by hand, but no luck. So I got my jack. It took a while to get it to the right spot and to balance it while opening it (since I could only get one arm in there). But eventually I got it opened enough to pop the dent back out. Warning - go slow. Dont force it. I got to a point where it looked like it was not making progress, so closed the jack, moved it and opened again. It looked pretty good, but not perfect. I parked in the sun the next day and when I left work, the rest of the dent was gone. Now there is only a small scratch. I can live with the scratch rather than the insurance claim !

I don't know if this is applicable, because it wasn't a Maxima, but I knew a guy who had dented his mother's car. Just by chance, he tried pulling the dent out with a bathroom plunger before she saw it. It worked! She never knew the difference.
