Advice on 06 purchase

Found a really clean '06 SE with only 8k miles and am contemplating making the step up from my 2000 GLE (with stiffened suspension)

Anything I should be wary about with the '06? I've searched the forum and didn't find any dire warnings.

No, 06 is fine. Just make sure it has the options you want and check carfax. Most problems are with 04.

Is it the CVT ot auto tranny?

Drive it around and see if there are any small tranny problems.

It's an automatic, but I'm not sure if it's the CVT or not - nothing on the info about teh car specifies whether it's the CVT. How can I tell and would it having the CVT be good or bad in the '06 - that was the first year for CVT, right?

Haha, they didn't put the cvt in until the '07 model. The only thing I would be careful with is the transmission, but it seems that problem is only for us with the '04 model. No tranny issues for me yet.

I have an 04 42K miles tranny smooth as butter. And there or many others with 04's with over a 100K with no tranny issues so I really don't buy that crap that it's just the 04's with the tranny issue.

Drive it, check the carfax, and have it inspected by a shop of your choice. If all checks out, then jump on it!

Could not disagree more...04,05,06 are all equally problematic...more than 07/08.
BUT some people have not had any problems at all...With 8k u shud be just fine

I say go for it. If it is a 4 speed they have upgrades. If it is a 5 speed well get in line. As mentioned above not all 04's have the problem. I think most of mine is self inflicted due to the driving habbits I have. If you drive hard be careful. If you like to float around and show off the looks then a 5speed or 4 speed should be ok.

No issues so far, transmission shifts like butter. Just drive around.. over small bumps and check everything is ok.

Buy it, nothing to really think about, my 06 has almost 60k and no problems, the only problem was the exhaust rattle which was a broken clamp which the dealer can fix in 5 minutes, drive around with the windows down and maybe under an underpass and see if you hear a rattle

Only other issue may be brakes, my 06 had extremely hard factory pads that ate right into the cheap rotors Nissan put on, car stopped fine but I got tired of the vibrating steering wheel.

there is an audio section http://forums.maxima.org/audio-electronics-21/ , also there is a search at the top of this page right in the center. It will help you with all your questions.
