FINALLY!!!
Red Heat came home, it should have came home Monday but low and behold the master mechanic doing my rebuild wife gave birth 2 weeks early!!! God bless him and his new son. Anyway Tuesday I did an inspect with the shop owner and there were somethings not right, Turbo wrong angle, some brackets not set properly and wiring harnesses not as secure as I like them. I told the owner I'll print up some detailed pictures of the engine bay before the rebuild to see the differences then I worked with him in the shop all of Tuesday working with him to get things right and putting the finishing touches on the car.
Tuesday we turned the engine over for the first time and she fired up the first time, what a relief. I can tell the engine sounds different, mostly from the lower compression but overall still quiet and smooth. So we took her out for a test drive and was somewhat annoyed at the sight of smoke out the back again. Tommy said the rebuild oil (parts lube) will cause some smoke till it burns off then I remembered with the previous problem, I still had residual oil in my pipes from the initial leak and that would have to be cooked off as well.
We drove about 10 miles and slowly some of the smoke did start to dissipate. We took the car back to the shop and dumped the initial break-in motor oil. Well today Wednesday we took it for another test drive and again, the more we drove the less smoke was evident (fooken yeah!). Couple things still had to be done but I told Tommy not to worry because I could do it myself, drove the car another 5+ miles (up to about 28 break in miles now) and no smoke out the tails.
I got the car home and started doing some detail cleaning, tie wrapping, taping, adjusting, reinstalling of Grill, Covers, FUSB, more cleaning, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. Anyway long day and thats enough for tonight. Red Heat is back on her feet and after about 500 break in miles, I'll give her another oil change and off to retuning!!!
Next week I'll drop her off at the body shop to fix the dent on the roof as a result of the two F-tarts launching radio control mini monster trucks onto my roof...
OK, later people, here are some pictures of Red Heat sleeping in her own bed tonight. I may sleep in the garage with her tonight!!!

Thanks for the support bro, trust me I worked on attention to detail stuff for over 5 hours last night hitting the sack at about 1am after getting her home.
I didn't want to take a picture of my bay after getting it back. My mechanic is awesome and that's extremely important to me, but he does not do attention to detail stuff and I'm good with that since thats what I'm good at. We complete each other in a non gay kind of way!!!

Yes because I didn't like the risual oil that was coming out of the breather getting oil on the engine area, so I made a custom oil catch can in line with the filter.

WOW!
just WOW!
that red is gorgeous with the black touches.
I would like to see you do the back rear facing part of the trunk in black and leave the top of the trunk red...might work or it might be too much, but I love it as is now. Just thinking aloud

hey chern ive been told that when breaking in a new motor it is only critical to baby the car the first couple of miles being that when the pistons heat up they seat within the first few minutes due to how high the heat is im not sure of the facts behind this just figured id ask to see what your veiw on it was or how you came to the conclusion that the car is broken in at 500 miles opposed to 100 miles???

Thanks
