Braille battery in a 6th Gen maxima

As part of my car's diet, in preparation for my TTOD (top time of day) quest, I bought a Braille carbon fiber battery - model B106C. This battery is SIX POUNDS instead of the OEM battery's 48 pounds, and my already lighter replacement battery which is 28 pounds. You can litereally play catch with it, because not only is it light, but you can turn it upside down. It looks really cool too.

I installed it just to see how the car behaved. I will make a mounting bracket for the race. The car starts fine, but it has very little reserve meaning that if u leave the lights on for a couple minutes, u may not start it. I would not recommend it for daily driving but its great for performance applications, like 1/4 mile, autocross, and road racing. It is kinda cool for show too since its sooo small. Anyway, here are some pics:

AFTER

Remember that the red battery weighs only 28 pounds and is a lot smaller than OEM which weighs 48 pounds.

wow...! that is a small and weight battery!!
I just thought of something... would the heat dissipate better if you take the engine cover off and also remove the driver headlight to scoop more cold air in there? I donno if that's legal on the track but I thought I would throw some ideas out there for ya.

whats the battery propped up on?
Some track inspections might view that as a no-no

I looked those batteries back in the day and was probably gonna get one but things change....

Nice job

Just a tip as you consider your custom bracket/tie down - it will help a lot if you put some non-slip material, like one of those cell phone non-slip pads, under the battery in addition to the bracket. The Brailles are pricey but nice.

You just reminded me that I have an Odyssey somewhere I need to dig out and recharge before it dies for good, mine is still 11 lbs though:

Good idea. Im going to try to find an aluminum bar and some bolts and bolt it to the battery tray.

wow! 6lbs...and $220 is a great deal for such lightweight and power. that is, as long as it lasts as long as the one i just bought. just got an odyssey myself...compared to this, feel like i may have just made a bad decision:

$200 + shipping for the PC925 (and 26 lbs!!)

oh well... nice ride btw Deus.

That's pretty sick, hard to believe that such a little thing can start a car. Nice find!

Its even nicer that I paid $75 for it!!! Thanks guys. There is a braille battery that about twice as heavy but it better for daily driver applications. Its still starting the car after 4 days of varied use - longer drives, night time, day time, rush hour etc.

It would be a great show battery, if dont race the car. I particularly like the fact that weight is being reduced in the very front of the car which is important when cornering. That is probably why I will remove my spoiler and rear diffuser - they are at the end of the car.
