Light squealing under the hood when cool
Light squealing under the hood when cool
I have an 05 max SE with 31k miles on it. After I cut the car on and accelerate off for the 1st couple blocks, I hear a faint squealing under the hood. This lasts for just a second or two at a time, for the first couple starts, then it goes away. Maybe it's the belts, but it does not sound like the traditional belt chirping I have heard in cars past. Any ideas?
Our 05 Maxima with 3.5 started making a "squealing" noise a few weeks ago. It would get higher and lower based on the rpm of the engine. I did some research and found the the timing belt tensionos is some Nissans were failing prematurly and needed to be replaced. Went to the dealer and sure enough that was the problem. Luckily with only 28k miles it was covered under warrenty otherwise may have been as high as $1500.00.
