Question about HID kit for 6th gen.

okay so, a friend of mine has a 6th gen, has having some trouble figuring out what bulb size for HID. if you go on the www.sylvania.com, they give you 2 choices. halogen bulbs are 9012 bulbs, and if your car is equiped with HID already its d2s. My friends car is not equiped with HID, so he had purchased a D2S rapter HId kit, but it didnt fit, i heard if your cars not equiped with d2s, and when you buy a d2s kit it will not work, Anyone else figure out the problem? please let me know thanks.

get the 9006 kit. he'll then just need to trim a little bit off the tabs and it'll fit.

^^^x2, he got the wrong bulbs. He'll need the 9006. If the car didn't have the HIDs from factory its the 9006 bulb; if it came with a HID kit from the factory, its the D2S bulbs.

not quite...

6th gens that didn't come with HIDs are equipped with the 9012 bulbs. but the base are very similar to the 9006s...hence why it would work.

I just went through the same problem with my 6th gen.. My friend told me that I could get an hid kit for cheap at a flea market.. So I went and bought some 9012, 2 weeks later they say that they couldn't order them, so I have them try a 9006 bulb.. They were afraid to trim it down, but instead broke a few of the oem headlight housings without letting me know.. After a full refund, I decided to give this other place a shot that guaranteed that they could get a 9012 bulb.. As of yesterday, my hids are in! It was hell, but definately worth it.. Oracle brand 6000k HID kit.. $250 :/
