My transmission seems like it is going into gear like 3/4 of the way. Then when I go to release the clutch, it pops out of gear. I have no idea what this can be. I am thinking it might be the 2nd gear synchro, but I don't know.
Any idea what this could be?

i agree with the syncro diagnosis.
While you are in there you might as well replace the bearings and the other syncros especially third gear. If i remember correctly from another thread an entire rebuild kit is like $245. Someone else will have to chime in with the website for that.

If someone has this site, it would be greatly appreciated!Originally Posted by Feldman

It looks like you can get a rebuild from GT Transmissions. who know's on the price though it looks like the price i remembered was from a 5 speed rebuild it can't be too much different though wouldn't think

are you planning on doing the rebuild yourself? I hear its pretty basic as long as you have the time, tools and a little bit of knowledge. I am sure the FSM has a step by step as well as some how-to's here. If you dont have the FSM i am pretty sure pmohr has it in his sig still

Yeah, I would probably do it myself. It seems like all the how tos are for the 5 speeds though.Originally Posted by Feldman

I have to find a 6 speed how to.
Update on the tranny...
Got it into second just now by jamming the **** out of it.
Now when I go to third under light throttle, it is sticking and then going to third. Like it is stuck in second for a little bit then goes in to third.
Then I decided to give it a couple WOT 1st-3rd runs and the trans seemed like it shifted perfectly.
This thing is confusing me. Although, it has to be the synchros, I don't know what else it could be.

Pretty sure it is not the throwout bearing, because none of the other gears are affected.Originally Posted by NiZMo1o1
well its one of two things , synrcos or throwout bearing
It has to be the synchro then.
