New 200 amp alternator install...

So I just ordered a high output alternator. Just wondering if anyone has replaced the alternator on our cars? Easy... hard... Honestly haven't even looked at it.

I've done them in previous cars but just wondering if there is a write up or advice to make the install go smooth.

200 amp huh??? where did you find that? Does it fit our car? What about voltage regulation, do you need to add anything to ensure your electronics are safe? I am pretty sure our car comes with something to cover that with a stock alternator, but you are adding allmost %50 more output.

Ive got a 220 amp alternator from excessive amperage to install myself. I looked at it and it looks like a very tight squeeze since its located at the bottom of the engine. The FSM instructions say that the radiator must be removed. Radiator also has a CVT cooler in it as well.

If you need it the FSM can be downloaded from rapidshare.com

I'm getting it from Excessive Amperage. It's got a built in voltage regulator and won't harm anything.

I really don't want to have to remove to much to put this thing in.

Installed one on an I30 the other day, same 3.5 motor as far as i know. Remove lower radiator hose, and you have to drop the AC compressor to get the alt out, as well as both serpentine belts. It will take some maneuvering due to the cramped space..theres a bracket on the top of the alt you will need to keep for the new one, and of course there are wires you need to work around to get it out. Remember to add coolant when youre done. Not sure about removal of the radiator due to it not being equipped with a CVT transmission.
