How has the failing economy affected your mod plans on your 6th Gen Maxima

The 6th Gen Maxima is a pretty upscale car. Mods for these cars are expensive due to the low overall numbers of people modding these cars and to the conservative nature of 6th Gen modders, in general.

I am curious how the failing economy has affected your plans to mod your ride. Have you scrapped plans? Have you cut back? Has it not affected you at all? Discuss.

No effect here really, I mean I cut back in other areas. I get paid sallary I guess you can call it from the military so income hasn't really changed. Still saving for the bigger mods like tranny upgrade and engine rebuild project. I do make the most of smaller cheaper mods just because I enjoy making things and modding. Examples are door leds, painting interior mods, etc.

I see 29 views and only one comment???? Jeez you guys, lets hear your feedback. No one is judging. I have cut back a lot on my plans. I stick to DIY projects until business picks up. I need brakes, but since I want $120 Hawk HP plus pads instead of OEM crap, I am waiting it out while I listen to the low warning sensors. Its humilitating but its life right now. If you want an explanation of why things are like this, check out the documentary in my sig. It will open your eyes.

It affected me hard, but unemployed for several months sucks. I can't even afford new struts & shocks, so I can drop my car. Other mods I wanted (new fog HID lights, endlinks, and get headlights done by Max Power). Rims, spacers, y-pipe would be good too, but not a priority to me as the other ones I previously listed.

It's slowed me down especially since the wife "might" be pregnant (we shall find out soon).... If that's the case - modding will have to take a back seat (this was a decision made by my C-level exec at home). Economy wise, I just try to keep big, more $$$ mods to a 2-3 month gap so that way I can at least try to save some $$$, but smaller stuff that I can do myself (debagging, etc) I will keep on doing since it's cheap and keeps me busy...

It's taken me about 3 moths just to save up for my brake kit and grille. I still have to get my Y Pipe, UDP, NWP Spacers and Block Plate. I bet after taxes next year I can finally get some rims. Only reason that I don't have any pics of her is because of the stock rims lol.

I can't wait for the economy to turn around. I have lost 3 hours a week for the last 2 months. Just getting my 40 hours back this month. It's amazing what an extra 200 a paycheck will do for you.

Its pretty much ground my mods to a halt. I have a GTR bodykit Ive had for several months that I cant afford to get painted, and a set of 20s that I cant afford to get tires for sucks having to put plans on hold because of layoffs, but family comes first.

Ive slowed down a bit. My last mod was about 10 months in the making, While I slowly aquired all my suspension mods. At the end of those 10 months I had all the parts and enough money to pay for the installation of the 6 suspension mods and a set of new brake pads (which I didnt really need but went in for NYS inspection and the ******* said i needed pads to I bought them another 150 I wasted)

no. not really. The prices of the various mods are due to the low demand, just like with every other generation of the maxima...

It has definitely slowed one down. I had a few easy mods to do, but now forgo them for set of new brake pads and rotors.

The economy has definately tamed my mod bug. I now have to allocate my funds to other important things such as the increase cost of text books and rent. Like Deus said i have been sticking to DIY projects such as e55 retrofit and gutter guard grill. I still want to do work on suspension and eventually cattman headers and y-pipe. It also doesnt help when your at work and a customer scuffs up your front bumper to bare paint and does not leave a note. The economy is the reason why i learn to do all the mods myself. I thank Nissan for the free oil change for four years

I can't even start doing any minor stuff... Anyone know approximately how much it would cost and where is the best place to get a Front & lower billett grill for an 05 maxima? here's a few of the things I am considering doing which I consider is average.

Exhaust System (Cat Back)
High Efficiency Cat
Performance Mufflers
Air Intake
Headers (not sure if it is 1 or 2)
18" or larger rims (currently stock 7 spoke 17" on my SL, are these polishable?)

All in all i'm expecting all of this to cost around 3K not including rims and rubber, which is a bit too much.

Any suggestions as to what will give me the best bang for the buck?
I'm currently using just a high efficiency K&N air filter, suggestions are welcome.
