CVT tranny
CVT tranny
Hey guys and Gals,
i have a 2006 Nissan Maxima, My brother in Law wnet to go to change the tranny fluid and stated to me that I have a CVT transmission. I was under the impression CVT only came out on the 2007 Models! Is the 2006 model equipped with the CVT?
Thanks

don't mean to steal this thread but can't post until I post in other threads first or something. Well my question is my gf has an 08 altima with the cvt and around 30 it shutters and hesitates. The dealer sounds like he is giving us a line of crap saying it's normal and it's just the belts tightening inside. Any of you guys have a problem with your cvt trans shuttering at low speeds? Or know if this is actually a problem or normal? Thanks guys.
you don't have a CVT and the transmission fluid is Matic-K. I recommend you call the dealership next time with your vin number and ask what tranny fluid you need for your car. The vin makes it car specific. If you had it rebuilt by nissan then it will be saved under your vin in their database. The possibility of them putting in a CVT if you had a 5speed or 4speed auto is pretty much .000001. Tell your Brother in Law he's an idiot and not to touch your tranny. You can drain and fill yourself. It's easy. There are writeups here on the org to help.
It's a warning light, shouldn't be on when the car is running. Before you actually start the car, just turn the key on, and all your cluster warning lights, including this CVT light, should illuminate for a few seconds. It may not stay on, and certainly won't be on when you turn the car over unless there's actually something wrong with it...
