Car is going bonkers! Help!

Hello everyone I love my 2007 maxima to death and I am having a problem for which it is at the dealer right now and they can't seem to fix. My car will not go above 41 mph and will not shift gears. it will go all the way to 5500 rpm and stay there at 41mph. while accelerating and applying the brake the car has a loud humming noise and very violent clicking sounds that get worse when you brake. As I was driving like this the brake warning light, abs light, traction control light, and slip light all came on and stayed on. When this happened all the noises stopped but the car still wont go out of gear and go above 41. Any advice? Thank you.

Could be alot of things but I'll say this. When my Alternator went out. I also got the brake/abs/ light only when I hit the brakes but my idle also went very low until it cut off. When my ABS control unit broke, I got the same lights again.

Not being able to go past 41mph, I don't know. I think the 04-06 transmissions has a fail safe mode. Won't shift past a certain gear. But the 07-08 has a different transmission. Check engine light can be alot of things but your lights are related to one thing.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for one hour? Will reset the ecu. Won't fix anything but just to see what it'll do.

Turns out it was an abs computer or something and it was sending a signal to shut down the car and the car was fighting it. Needlessw to say the computer or module is broke and they want 1500 to replace it.

My Max did all of that crap and more before 80,000. My warranty covered all of it $0 deductible. Good luck with that.

check the wrecking yards for the part. Make sure you get the right part. Sounds like you are not 100% on what part it is. Find out, post it, and we will even help if we can. Installation might be easier than you think. Find out and let us know so we can help save you some money and down time.

Man, I love the org! This post cracked me up, lol. But I am soo glad there are always people on here to help each other. I am happy you finally found the problem. I see you have a 07. So, when I find anybody complaining about their 6thgen, espcially the 6.5thgen (07 or 08), I get a little scared for it could happen to me too, lol. Same car and sh*t happens.

Sounds like the ABS actuator burned out. Costly! If anything, get the part from them and have a shop do the install. That alone should save you a lot of money.

Damn, do you have any warranty? see if that is covered. if not then see if courtesy parts have that part cheaper and have a qualified mechanic fix. will save you lots of money
