Console unit

I dont know what the problem is but I can not increase the heat as soon as i get in the car. I have to drive the car for a good few hours before I am able to freely adjust the heat.

The crazy thing is that I am able to decrease the temperature at any time. The passenger cooling/heating button works fine.

Secondly, the top row buttons (Auto, A\C, fan increase, etc.) only work when I drive for hours. I cant turn the heat off or decrease the overall heat in the car because I wont be able to cut it back on immediately.

Any suggestions?

I've never seen that before... It seems like a faulty unit. It should never take a few hours to do anything. If there is no fix or any other suggestions I'd say buy a used one on ebay and it should be plug and play.

Does anybody nearby you have a Maxima that you could swap the heater controls to see if the controls are the problem?

Not that I know of, but I guess I'll just have to replace it. Thanks

Post up your location, there has to be somebody relatively close to you. It's only a few minutes to swap over the HVAC controls to see if that's the problem.

I've got an 07 Bose headunit if you're interested. I removed it at 24K miles...worked perfectly when I took it out...I replaced the entire audio system.

Heat and electronics don't mix too well. You might have a short. Check ebay or your local junk yards for a replacement. If a replacement doesn't fix it, you might have a problem with the BCM. That is not a cheap repair. don't dump alot into a replacement switch, just look around and see if you can get it cheap or borrow from someone else to see if that is even the problem.
