I'm not gonna totally disagree with you, things like that happens most of the time. Not going to deny that at all.......

 

O.K., you didn't directly ridicule anyone. You did seem to suggest that since the world of autmotive resale is a jungle (which it mostly is), who cares if you play by its rules (which essentially amount to as much dishonesty as one can get away with). My personal objection (and perhaps that of some of the other posters) is that you were advocating that this unfortunate owner could try to conceal the sludge problem so that he could unload it without paying any financial penalty for his neglect. The larger question for me is, what kind of world would we like to live in, and for our children etc. to live in? When I go to my dentist or doctor or plumber, I have to trust them to know what they are doing. The same goes for all kinds of transactions: we need to be able to trust other people. If we are personally dishonest/untrustworthy, we are contributing to this world's being a worse place to live in, because it makes people more mistrustful, suspicious, anxious, etc. If you wouldn't sell this damaged car to a friend or family member, you shouldn't sell it to a complete stranger, either. Why? Because you have subtracted from the trust people have in each other, and thereby weakened the quality of human life. Look, I don't mean to lecture, but I feel strongly about this. When I bought my first car, the used car salesman told me that the rust streak on the engine block was caused by "condensation off the dipstick" (which ran parallel to the rust). When I asked about the bubbles in the paint by the rocker panel, he said, "They must have gotten the heat lamps too close." I was 16 at the time, and my father didn't know enough about cars to realize that the salesman was selling a car with a cracked block and serious body rust. That experience made a deep impression on me. I've done some things in my life I'm ashamed of, and wouldn't dream of doing again. But I have never directly or indirectly lied to anyone about the condition a car I was trying to sell or trade. I have no tolerance for anyone who does. So, I hope I haven't offended you--I agree with most of what you say. Let's try to make the world a better place--it's pretty obvious we've got a lot of work to do.

 

One of the BEST responses/posts I have seen in a long...long time...I am glad to hear that there are still people in this world who still preserve their morals...it is refreshing in today's day and age.....good job Lobewiper!

well honestlly i just bought a used engine for my 04 wit 50k miles on it gonna finish installing tomorow and hope it turns on with out any issues and i got it for $950 with tax included and delivery to my home a 50 mile distance

 

You're obviously on some kind of crusade, and I applaud your efforts. However I'm too cynical for you to have made enough impact on my judgment. Good luck with your dream...

Thats an awful long time to go without an oil change. I've had cars i that burned oil like mad, but they were 20+ years old and had multiple owners. Its almost to be expected. I couldn't imagine taking a 4 year old vehicle out for a test drive and seeing smoke.
