I took apart the grille (separated the mesh from the front). Marked the top and bottom lines with masking tape so it would smooth out the transition. Used a sawzall to cut out the brace. Came back with an angle grinder and smoothed out the cuts. Then I took it down and had it blasted and powder coated "wet black". Only took 3 days and cost just $55 total for both pieces. Very happy.
