Rear View Camera Install

Is there any write up for how to install the rearview camera for a Maxima yet? I can figure out what end goes to the headunit but I cannot for the life of me figure out where the red and black wires go.

And once I figure that out, to tap into my reverse wire I would need to run down the trunk to the hinges then back to the reverse wire right?

Black wire goes to a ground, red goes to ACC power, purple goes to the reverse lights and the yellow RCA plug into the video input on the receiver. I see you have an 04. I have an 07(has different radio/info screen) and the reverse signal was in the stock radio harness. Might not be there on the 04-06 models but you could find it with a test light as you probe the stock radio harness then tap into the reverse lights right there.

Power and ground it is. Mine had a video switch/diplexer that sent power and video through one wire. Yours does not, nothing wrong with it. The camera i got was a high end kenwood camera three or four years ago. It gives an awesome picture at daytime or dusk and an alright picture at night.

Yea this one is a cheap Pyle camera from amazon for $28 shipped. The reviews were average so I figure if its not that great I won't be out too much. I also didn't want to drill any holes.

How do you plan on getting from the license plate area to inside the trunk? I removed the license plate finisher and drilled a hole through the trunk lid to run the wire.

I have no idea how Im going to get through the license plate finisher. Im still working on that process, I guess Ill just figure it out while Im installing it.. These wires are very thin so hopefully I can just squeeze them through somewhere.

The license plate finisher is a pain in the *** to get off. Its held in by two bolts and like five clips that are a ***** to make them come out. I ended up cutting the top's of two of them off. Went back on fine without the two clips.

Don, did you have to extend your camera wires to tap into the reverse light?

Camera

I know this post is old but I need help too.
I have a Maxima 04 SL and that same camera with a Pioneer AVX-H1500DVD unit.
I connected Red and Black cables to reverse lights.
Camera works fine, while the camera is in reverse. Problem is when I shift to drive or whatever, the screen is black, like if the camera is gonna turn on, but stays black. If i thouch the screen everything is normal, but within a few seconds the black screen comes back.
Could it be the cables?
