Replacing horn, looking for tips

Well, went through about 20 inches of water this weekend, didn't see it until I was in it, had to plow my way out. Fortunately didn't damage anything but the front license plate, and the horns were waterlogged, and never recovered after drying out.

So I am ready to replace them, but I wasn't sure what the best method of access is. They are on the driver's side, under the headlight, is the best I can tell, but I'm wondering can I get to them through the wheel skirt on that side? Searching the 6th gen forum I didn't find anyone talking about it; it's an '07.

Also, I'm looking at replacing them with either of these model, which both appear to be direct replacement. I know I need both high and low, I'm just showing the low tone horn below. Which is better, can anyone tell? FIAMM's homepage didn't go into detail what was different about these two types. Amazon lists them both at 130dB; Thanks for any insight!:

FIAMM 40365 12 V Low Note One & Two Term W/ Universal Bracket

And this one:

I went ahead and purchased the disk type horns, so really all I'm looking for is insight on the horn access. I vaguely recall they were under the batter tray, but when I was last in there I never actually looked to see if I could easily access them from there...

Anyone replace them before? I've got a day or two before the horns arrive to figure this out.

Horns should arive today. I guess nobody here knows how to get to 'em to replace them. So I'll go at it blind, and figure it out as I go...

Thanks forum...

I was thinking of doing the same thing. But i noticed that a whole compressor setup for a train horn in expensive. Was thinking of doing some cheaper air horns..

Alright, so I jacked up and removed the driver's front wheel, pulled down half of the skirt, 4 screws and some fasteners. Then had to remove the lower air intake resonator; and the horn was right there.

Turns out it was only one, a trumpet horn, not a disk. The disks sounded nothing like the original sound, very rice, so I'm sending them back.

Fortunately I was able to get the water out of OE horn, reinstalled it and back in business.

I will consider maybe getting one of those freeway blasters, low tone, to add to the existing horn, but for the time being I'm cool.

Thought I'd share the experience in case someone was curious down the road.

There are two horns. The other one is on the passenger side in about the same area behind the headlight.

I'll have to check that. I've never heard that horn in the years I've owned the car. Only ever heard it on the drivers side...

Look, while you're going to all this work, get the horns like the ones on the General Lee in the Dukes of Hazzard. Keep it real, man!

There's two horns. The passenger side horn is easier to get to than the driver. I swapped mine for a hella horn a couple of months ago. I mounted the new ones using a bracket behind my grille. I like the sound, a bit european but very loud.

Yeah, I hear the pass-side horn now that I know to look for it. I'll have to get back to this project eventually...
