@Rochester: This is why My6thGen.org was created. I've been going there, it's like the 5th gen forums with fewer English skills. Super helpful, full of serious members that care about maintaining their cars, but sometimes requires a re-read to pick through the "hip" and "cool" texting-style, shorthand nonsense.

Is this really an argument? Modding a car will always skew the spectrum. If I put full exhaust and CAI I may just outrun a stock Maxima. Thats what should happen. When arguing this compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges. Every Maxima generation gets faster, use a reputable source such as caranddriver.com, motortrend.com, etc. and get the numbers for a STOCK Maxima and compare them.

This forum is getting really useless really fast. I dont even come here half as much as I used to because these threads never stay on topic. If the moderators at my6th were here, this whole forum would be much different. But hey, some people like this type of forum. You can read for hours and not learn ish except for ignorance and how cool twentyeggs is.

Btw, Raz, keep up the good work.

Hey, guys, I am cool because I am a good reader and have huge knowledge of 9- and 7-year-old car reviews!!
Well, Boss, here is what you are looking for. First, a quote from the 2002 Nissan Maxima 6-speed Car and Driver road test, followed by their stats:
Originally Posted by Car and Driver: 02 Review
Adding power is certainly one way to revitalize a car's image. Even with the stiff, deliberate shifting action of the new gearbox, the extra punch makes for a distinctly quicker point-A-to-point-B experience: 6.0 seconds to 60, 15.7 to 100, and 14.7 seconds at 97 mph over the quarter-mile, a sharp contrast to the last manual Maxima we tested in June 1999: 0 to 60 in 7.0, 19.5 to 100, and 15.6 seconds at 91 mph for the quarter. The '02 car also posted substantially better braking numbers, requiring 182 feet to stop from 70 mph, compared with a very indifferent 195 feet by our 1999 test car.

C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 6.0 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 15.7 sec
Standing 1/4-mile: 14.7 sec @ 97 mph

Street start, 5–60 mph: 6.5 sec
Top speed (drag limited): 145 mph
Braking, 70–0 mph: 182 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad 0.82 g
Then, the quote from their 2004 Nissan Maxima 6-speed road test and the stats:
Originally Posted by Car and Driver: 04 Review
In the Maxima, the V-6 produces 265 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque, much of which is available throughout a broad engine-speed range. In fact, so torquey is this engine that the driver must take care to launch with relatively few revs on the dial to avoid abusing the clutch.

Thanks to an electronic drive-by-wire throttle that in our test car had a mind of its own, that was easier said than done. In fact, the distinctly nonlinear response we got from our car made performance testing difficult, rendering effective wheelspin modulation a real challenge.

Which probably explains why this car looks slower on paper than the last Maxima we tested in October 2002, requiring 6.4 seconds to achieve 60 mph (instead of 6.0) and 15 seconds flat to cover the quarter-mile. The last Maxima took only 14.7 seconds to do the same job.

0-60 mph: 6.4 seconds
0-100 mph: 16.5 seconds
1/4 mi: 15.0 seconds @ 95.0 MPH

Street start (5-60): 6.9
Top speed (drag limited): 145 MPH
Braking, 70–0 mph: 197 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad 0.84 g
OWNED BY EIRIK AND THE 5TH GEN FORUMS!
Here's another 2005 Nissan Maxima 5-speed auto Car and Driver blurb from a comparison test against other $30K sedans:
That said, we're inclined to give a pass on the underhood machinery because it delivers the zoom. Zero to 60 comes up second quickest of the bunch, just a blink behind the Toyota at 6.1 seconds. Top speed outruns all the others at 139, perhaps a useful quality for those North Dakotans a long way from the maternity ward. Stopping was better than average at 181 feet from 70 mph, and road adhesion outgripped all the others at 0.80 g

0-60 mph: 6.1 seconds
0-100 mph: 16.5 seconds
1/4 mi: 14.9 seconds @ 96 MPH

Street start (5-60): 6.2
Top speed (governed): 139 MPH
Braking, 70–0 mph: 181 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad 0.80 g
So, even with a not-pre-production-test-model, we can see that the 6th gens aren't as fast as the 5.5 gens that have the SAME ENGINE with LESS WEIGHT.

@Deadbolt: I'm using hyperbole, man, but the people that frequent the My6thGen forums are very different from the 5th gen forums on the "big org" here. I tried digging up the post I read to show Rochester, but it was from one of the social forums. None of the technical writeups are written in texting shorthand, but quite a few of the responses to others' questions are... more compact than on here. Maybe it's that the kind of dude who drives a 6th gen is more likely to be posting from a phone.

Anybody notice how the 6th gen tested 15 more feet to brake from 70 mph? 15 feet? And yet the common BBK for the 5th gen is to use the 6th gen setup. Weird, huh?

Yes I am. Reviews don't mean shet to me. Everyone is different, everyone drives different, different areas, different pavement, tires, air. A stock 6th gen might run 5.1 in Colorado while another 6.7 in California. Everything comes into play when talking about squeezing every second out. Nobody is whining dip shet. Get your stop watch out and count bioatch!

Alright guys I started this shiZz so let me put a end to it. As of right now it looks like the 5.5 gen is faster stock compared to the 6.5 gen stock. Now that we know this let's all go to sleep on that note. As a 6.5 gen owner I am starting to think I should of bought 2010 maxima but oh well there will be a next time soon enough to get another max or G. Thank you for everyones thoughts and advice and research

Oh. Okay. You're welcome?

@Raz76: Right, because we all know that car review shows/magazines/websites don't abuse a car to get their 0-60 and 1/4 mi times. Yep, we all know that they definitely go easy on the car because they'll have to keep it for the next 3-6 years, or.. Hang on, no.. Wait.. Do I have that wrong?

You mean... faster than a 6.0 gen, right? Not sure how the 6.5 gen CVT gets into this discussion.
