I love the sound of the VQ and I'd like to make the exhaust a little louder. I'm not in it for the performance, just the sound. Other that chopping the exhaust off, is there a way to get a little more sound for free or cheap?

here ill be a little more specific.. if you want to get any sound from your car you need to do some cutting. there are no screws, or bolts, or pieces you can remove or modify to change your exhaust sound. the removal of the mufflers or resonator are your cheapest options. and that is as vague as your going to get since your not interested in spending money i won't waste my time explaining in detail.

 

Replace your resonator with a straight pipe and leave the stock cat or vice versa. That's as cheap as it gets.

 

you could go the electric cutout route.. then all you do is push a button and it will open up the exhaust before you mufflers or cats depending on how loud you want..

Best route on the cheap is to delete the resonator and install some aftermarket mufflers. I have my two SS mufflers for sale from my eBay cat back, like new, if interested.
