How to replace catalytic converters on '05

I ordered some eastern cats to replace my original cats. Once I got into it a little I ran into a couple hiccups and am wondering if anyone can help out.

First, my original cats have threads in the flange that meets up with the y-pipe. The replacements have no threads. Can I just get a longer bolt and put a nut and washer on the other side?

Second, the two rear bolts on the back cat have a heat shield over them. Any tips on how to get to the bolts?

Thanks in advance.

I cant understand someone who changes his cats, but cant figure out using a bolt with a nut to fasten it.
