Doors dont stay open

Searched for this did not see anything on it. My 08 driver door will not stay open on a slight hill. Drives me nuts. Am I the only one with this problem?

I was waiting for someone to tell me to park heading down hill! LOL.
I am just trying to figure out a way to fix it.

The door hinge is a dealer part and you'll have to replace it.Never replaced mine but i'm sure you could.

Problem is, they never worked very well at all. I was hoping someone had a good fix for this stock issue.

My driver's door does the same thing. When I first got the car, the door didn't open smoothly and creaked like a haunted house door. Had no problems with it not staying open until I lubed it. I spray lubed the eff outta it, and I probably used too much since it will close itself if parked on a sideways incline leaning towards the passenger side.

You have what are more commonly known as "automatic doors."

They're an unwanted option that comes on quite a few Nissan models.

Specifically the G35 coupe.

I was reading that on the infinity sites as well. I guess they perfected it on the G before the did it to the Maxima...

Actually, the company that perfected it was Pontiac, with the Trans Am.

Doors on a Trans Am will take your whole leg with them if it just so happens to be in the way when they swing themselves shut.

I actually don't mind that my door closes itself. Especially when I've got a handful of school books or something. It saves me having to rearrange everything I'm carrying so I can shut the door.

OP, just realized you're in Nashville. What part? If you don't mind my curiosity.

i think the newer maximas do this too because my door has almost chopped my leg off on several occasions. it closes itself on level ground...
