Well no complaints at all from my CVT. You 04-06 Max owners can talk all the trash you want about 07-08. Now meet at a stand still from dig, and talk trash about my cvt afterwards..

I've Owned An 07 SL For About 2 Years And I Can Say That It Truly Was A Comfortable Ride... CVT Took Some Getting Used To But I Loved It... A Real Head Turner Too With The Ladies

I own a 2008 maxima se and the truth is the cvt blows.

My back ground of cars altima se 5 spd, wrx 5 spd, legacy gt 5spd auto had 2 of those and had an sti and an evo before the maxima. So I got married and it was time to calm down and settle down with the boy racer image. So I started to look at decent used cars under 20k. I found a maxima and my wife fell in love with it, so I test drove it and bought it.

After driving it a few months I wanted to kill myself. I think the cvt makes the car gutless, loud and slow. Also I think the maxima turning radius is one of the worst in this cars segment.

I hated the car so much lwith the cvt that I had to trade in my legacy gt for a 2012 sd 7 speed dual clutch transmission. After I got my s4 I handed off the maxima to my wife.

I have to say the car is reliable I had 0 issues so far, but everytime she makes me drive it I feel like crashing it.

Also I know it's not like a true Stick shift but you do still get the down shift feel and trust me it's fun to here that cvt wind up when you accelerate. Have fun with it sir. What color and what trim package did you get?
dude, cvt is not good at all, sounds annoying, annoying to drive, and is sluggish in low rpm's. My grandmother has an 09 3.5 altima with it and I hate it. Oh and congrats on your 6.5..........now your groceries wont spill when you accelerate

I have a 08 with a CVT and honestly its junk. Im in school at Wyotech and I just finished the drivetrain course I learned alot about the CVT and its kinda a proto type still, it can't handle heavy acceleration for many miles. It uses a metalic band over pulleys and the band can stretch over time. I wouldnt recommend it Im thinking of swaping it for a manual 6.

I have owned an 82,87, 94, 02, and now have an 07 SE, The 07 is by far the best all around Maxima that I have owned. Love the CVT transmission. Had an 04 Altima, also a good car.

Thats funny hoe you say a CVT is junk yet its used in all types of stuff. Gokarts, tractors, power tools ect. Truth be told, its been around hundreds of years, and its way more reliable than a manual tranny that has hudres of moving parts. Though there is still some disscution on to the reliabillity issue, the whole Metal Band strech issue. But i think its totally kewl man... Nice jump in the technological age...

Yea I am impressed with the CVT 40 to 100 is the same as 0 to 60.
