Wheel and tire upgrade
Wheel and tire upgrade
so I just bought this 08 Max and I would like to start by upgrading the wheels/tires and need to know what wheel/tire size to go with. I live in NY so the roads are less than forgiving. However I would like to sit and something really clean looking.....I do not have any plans to lower but need to get some ideas....thoughts?
Thanks
Thanks
If you don't plan to lower the suspension you should keep the stock tire size 245/45R18 because anything thinner than a 45 profile will leave an annoying gap. Straight drop springs are an option, nothing too lower to reduce the live of your shock/struts. The 6thgen maxima's have an ugly gap in the front and going smaller walls will show it more. 19" would be good but the tires are insanely expensive, i'd stick with the 18", that's if you got some money to blow
I had 19's before and yes they were expensive.....as for the wheel gap that is a good point however without any possibility of lowering the car, that will always be there....if i go with 18"....at the very least I would like a "noticeable" wider tire so at the very least it looks more aggressive then factory.....I had 245-40-19 on my SE-R altima and it sat ok but the tire needed to be wider....what are your thoughts on increasing the tire size wider than 245?
Thanks
Thanks
Honestly IMO I wouldn't increase the tire size for two reasons, 1st it's no going to look as good as if you was to lower it, and 2nd it would be extremely hard to sell it in the future. Normally guys who have bigger rims like the small walls to. But again "I" would lower the car 1" to compensate for the wheel gap instead of increasing the tire size to reduce it. But again it's only a suggestion
This is my 245/40R17 tires on 17X8 rims. Honestly the 40 series wall don't look that different from the 45 series

And this is a 245/45R18 on 18X9 rims

Even though the car is lowered 1.5" with 245/40R18 in the front still have probably over an inch wheel gap. The rear is a 0.5 drop with 245/45R18 but it completely filled with a little rub when the weight pushes on the rear.
