2004 maxima gears issue!

My 2004 nissan maxima is an automatic. When it changes gears (sometimes doesnt change until 4200RPM) it kind of slips and jumps a bit, not overly agressive, but enough to notice in the cockpit, its jump and you can definately feel it. This happens all gears, 1 thorugh 5, and when i come to a complete stop, put it in reverse, little gas, jumpy for a second, enough to notice! you can feel it and hear it. Not too familiar with Nissans and id like to know wtf is going on!!!! ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

Thanks,

Kyle

Check your trans fluid, first and foremost. Color, level and condition. Do you have an issue going from 1st to 2nd?

5 speed auto?

May be time for a valve body upgrade. Look around the 6th gen forums for a thread called RE5F22A transmission fix (or something like that).

edit - get yourself some and a comfy chair:

edit - Next time, don't post in here, post in the proper section (this is the test posts area)

So here is my take on it. If you are experiencing it in all gears, then I recommend checking your motor mounts and see if they are broken. Do you have a SES light? If so get the codes scanned at Autozone or Orilley's. If not, then unfortunately all you can do is check your fluid for discoloration, and replace as necessary. You might also be looking at a Camshaft Position Sensor issue. I don't think you are in the 5speed Transmission issue club just yet. I say this because the issue is not with all gears. Good luck and keep us posted on your find.
