thinking of buying a 2008 Maxima

Previous 2002 owner and in need of a new vehicle. How are the 2008's?
They seem to be in my price range.

Any suggested alternatives?
Thanks

Well, my only real complaint is the fuel consumption of these cars. I've never gotten any more than 330m on a full tank (19gal) of fuel, and that is with supreme, not regular. Look at what you spend over the course of a year and that is some serious $$$.

If ya don't care about how much fuel you go through, then the 07/08 cars are top notch, in my opinion.

Depending on how many miles are on it, check the transmission by driving it for awhile before buying. CVT gears have been known to slip when accelerating.

I have an 08 and love it. 87,000 miles now and only issue was the timing chain. Some say it's normal at that mileage, but in my opinion, it went out very early compared to other vehicles I've owned. Haven't had any issues at all with CVT transmission or nothing major. I do keep good maintenance on vehicle. Other than that, I cannot say anything negative about the car. I love the way it drives and the torque/power available at all speeds with the CVT. At first I could not get used to the sound of the CVT under hard acceleration...it was dreadful to me, but I loved the 6th gen Max and wanted one that was new, so 06 model was not an option in late 08 when vehicle was purchased. As for gas mileage, I came from a 2002 Altima 4 cylinder and expected to use more gas when I upgraded. Yes, more $ at the pump...actually, a decent amount more, but you expect this when getting this vehicle. I say go for it...as long as it was maintained well.

Your actually lucky, i just had to change my timing belt yesterday at 47,000 miles in my 08. My Dealer (cerritos nissan) said timing belt was bad and they usually only last 30,000 miles. Oh and power steering belt was bad also, paid $202 for that repair =(.

But back on topic, i love this car but hate the gas it uses, but i do have a heavy foot. Put a fujita CAI and it growls, such a beautiful noise lol.
