can a fluid change prevent trans problems with my 5spAT?

Guys I'm new here... just purchased an 04 Max SE with 127k. Car doesn't seem to have any trans issues... yet. I went to my local Nissan dealership and bought 14 qts of maticK @$11/qt and drained\refilled 4 times over 2 weeks as I read suggestions about here. Trans hadn't been serviced since about 60k miles. Fluid came out dark initially on first couple drain\refills but is very clean now. My question is: can clean fluid help prevent some of the valve body\solenoid issues?

Well yeah, that's the point of preventative maintenance, but if the fluid was brown, changing it can do more harm than good.

You changed the fluid and you did the right thing. Now, don't worry and don't think too much, you are good for next 30 or 60 thousand.

doing that fixed all my issues, and been good for 2 years now.
I now do one drain/fill every 30 000km or when it starts to be a bit rough again.

With your trans fluid being brown, there are arguments on both sides as to why you or should not have changed the fluid. IMO... You did the right thing. If the fluid was brown, it would appear that the previous owner neglected the car. If it were me, I'd check over the entire vehicle for my own peace of mind.

That's like saying if you change your engine oil will that help. Of course it will . Every fluid in your car does come with an expiration date and engine and tranny is the most costly when neglected. Seeing that you're on the "maintenance" tip and your tranny oil came out dark so it shows clear signs of neglect so you should do your coolant flush, engine oil change, brake flush, power steering flush, and tranny flush to be on the safe side.

well worst thing is nissan doesn't recommend changing transmission fluid ever unless there is a "problem" with it. That's bs to me.

With the 04's to 06's, I would change every 30K. Unless you purchased the vehicle second hand with high mielage and not sure if they previous owner did any transmission changes. I keep hearing that if a vehicle was not getting its transmission fluid changed every so often miles it is better to just leave it as is "after a certain point". I can attest to that. I have a 95 Altima and drive Wifes 02 Altima. 95 has 295,000 miles and engine gave up on me before Transmission did. Repaired engine and transmission still runs. Last transmission fluid change was at 90,000 mile interval. Same for 02 Altima...currently at 175,000 last transmission fluid change was at around 80,000 miles. I don't believe in taking cars to dealership for tune ups after it has reached 100,000 miles. Too costly for dealership maintenance after a certain point. Don't knock me...that's just my belief.

I would like to see some evidence on that. Any tech who isn't brain dead would never say that. The mainence booklet that comes with the car is there for a reason. Nissan does not spend millions to test everything out to say "Gee dont change it unless it starts giving problems"

could you just please find the page in the "booklet that comes with the car" where they give the frequency for the trans fluid change and post a copy here?

Unless you can do that, I don't really give a crap about your own opinion, thanks.

No need to be upset. I'm not obliged to prove anything to you.
Thanks.

In reality you should change it and keep it nice and clean but IMO, and I cant stress that enough, my transmission seems to be better with half old fluid and half new fluid. Unless you are the original owner and know for certain that the fluid has never stayed in too long then it is always best to leave about half the old fluid in there when doing a change. Draining all of it and then putting new fluid in there can lead to problems. As for the frequency? I think a half change every 25k or so is just fine. I take pride in my modified 4AT and I can say that it shifts like butter.

so does that mean you only change half of your engine oil at a time?

when you "drain it completely", you only drain approx 1/3 anyway.
So if you drain half, you are draining 1/6.
Quite pointless. Drain it all.

I do mine every 15k miles just to be safely. Sooner or later I'm doing transgo shift kit plus Rostra solenoids.

You are the first and only person I know who change it that regularly. Are you doing it yourself to save $? But i would honestly change it frequently too just based on the horrow stories I keep reading on 6th Gen auto transmission.

Crazy story. I reside in Orlando. At one point whenever searching for 2004, 2005, 2006 Maximas on craiglist, you would find multiple Maximas for sale with either transmission rebuilt, or new transmission or transmission problems in descirption.
