Donot trust Firestone !
They top my list of things not-to-be-trusted. Always trying to sell you junks.
I stopped going there many years ago. The last time it was to repair a flat tire. They kept the car for an extra hour ... just to give me a list of 99 different things I should replaced ... I vowed to stay away since (It happened before every time, didn't bother me as much).
What is the problem with your AC, that you can tell ?
Check the hose (running infront of the radiator, near the oil dipstick) for green freon leak. It costs me a little over $300 to replace (such hose costs a bunch$$$).

I agree with Maxfan. That seems like an unreasonable amount of work. They seem like they are trying to rebuild your entire system when odds are its a leaking hose. I have never trusted Firestone with car repairs (or tires for that matter). Find someone else for a second opinion. That is to much money not to shop around a bit.
