BCM needs to be programmed?

Hello,
I am wondering if anyone knows if the 6th gen maxima BCM needs to be programmed? I know the 5th gen an 03 didn't need to be programmed but from what I am reading the 04 may need to be programmed? I do have the chip in the key.
Has anyone had any experience swapping the BCM in a 6th gen car?
Thanks

I had my BCM go bad in my Altima SER (06), I also have a chipped key, and granted I had the stealership do the swap, but it did require re-programming of my key... not sure if that helps since I'm an Alti, but it something.

Good luck, it can be an expensive replacement.

Thanks for the reply.
Ill try and get the answer from the dealership and see if it does. I tried last time and they really didn't want to answer it. Just the "You need to bring it in to get it diagnosed" answer.
The part new is about $300 at the dealer but on ebay used runs about $60 shipped. Its just the programming part

By keys you mean the same method as programming a new fob? I did that before but from what I was told you need the Nissan consult II or something? I did try the bcm and well it didn't start my car lol. Weird all the numbers matched even fcc except for the lot #.

no, not like programming a key fob.

Reprogram keys by using consult tool or other suitable tool.
