08 Exhaust system advice

Hey all, I was wondering if those with an exhaust system could give me advice of what to get. Currently have a 2008 Maxima 3.5 SL and I want to get an exhaust system, I have looked online and the one I would like is the Greddy but those are no longer available and impossible to find. I went to a shop yesterday and the guy quoted me $650 for the Resonator delete, Flowmaster 40 series and quad tips. Not too sure what sounds good on the 08 Maxima in regards to an exhaust system since I know nothing about cars. I have watched numerous videos on this stuff but it's still very hard to determine since some videos have lower quality and such. I will be getting an Injen CAI as well to install on the car.

You can find the Greddy knockoff SP2s off ebay they look and sound the same minus the muffler tips dont have Greddy on them.

People have mistaken my Greddys for eBays and I have mistaken the eBays on other members rides as Greddys. They sound identical.

are you referring to something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/J2-4-DUAL-TI...5fef20&vxp=mtr

Don't know much about this stuff so I wanna make sure i'm looking for the right thing. I'm assuming everything that is in that picture is included.

That tubing seems awfully small.....I would shoot for a 3" bpipe split into 2.25" or 2.5" tubing with the largest resonator you can fit with a 27"-30" body!!! Then the 14" Magnaflow dual tips mufflers with resonated tips should be rather quiet but sporty at WOT!

I've heard different opinions on removing the resonator and leaving it, whats main differences with both options?

you will not like my point of view, but I would just keep it closest to stock possible.

And I would not buy car parts on ebay because I've had bad experiences before with really poor quality components advertised as good quality.

I would just bring the car to an exhaust shop and tell them to "fix it". really. Do you have an issue or you just want to change a perfectly working system to one that makes more noise?
Because if you don't have issues, I would spend my money elsewhere. Why change something that works to make more noise? I dont get it.

I'm opened to all opinions and I thank you for providing your opinion, in a way I do agree with you which is why I havent really jumped at the opportunity to change it out right away, there is nothing wrong with the system and just wanted to change it.

I think its more that NYCSHADOW wants a bit of that performance noise, and I can totally agree with you changing your exhaust is a noticeable difference.

Maybe look into a QTP Exhaust Cutout, which you can open and change the sound dramatically. Also gives you a lot more high end power especially on the hwy.

If youre on a budget id go with the eBay one, try to find a great seller that accepts returns so once you get it and if it feels like tin foil and you think it'll get dented easily etc you can return it and probably lose only 15% which is a lot lower than having to keep an exhaust that feels cheap.

If you check the f/s section a lot of ppl sell their exhausts too.

Thats actually where i got mine. I bought my used Greddy SP2 for a fraction like $300 for the entire system which looked only a year old (guy sold his max and didnt need it with only having it for a year). saved me money for other mods.

Oh and if you get an exhaust you'll lose some low end power (nothing drastic). because its less restrictive vs the oem one you currently have (you'll gain more mid+high end). But you can easily get more bolt ons to balance the power band.

Yeah you pretty much summed it up about changing my exhaust, I do want the Greddy SP2 but at a decent price, there was one that NISMO4Life posted on my6thgen but $650 is pushing it there for me just for the exhaust, i still need to get a CAI too so that will run me $1000 if I spend just that on the exhaust.

really, my advice? dont change the exhaust, dont buy a cai, and just spend your money on something else that will have a purpose other than making more noise, and replacing perfectly working parts for lesser quality ones.

Your car will not be faster and eventually you will just get sick of the noise and drone.

But hey, your money.

$650 is a great price for his exhaust, i saw the photos and they're pretty mint

A new Greddy exhaust runs for roughly $1000+

do me a favor, if you pay for an exhaust just to make more noise, please, plastidip your wheels with it.
