Key fob question

My key fob recently stopped working. I went and bought a replacement battery for it. It still does not work. My question is, Does the key fob have to be programmed? Thanks in advance.

If you have the old style, no. If you have a 2007 or 2008 with ikey system, not sure.

I had this issue. Put new battery, still nothing. Tried to program it from a way I found online, didn't work. Just took it to the dealer, they couldn't get it to work.

Key fob question reply

I just bought a 2007 Maxima SL and the key fob was dead. I bought the 2025 flat battery and it started working right away. Did you get the right battery? They get confused with the 2032 one easily. I got 2 spare fobs from the dealer and they worked flawlessly as well. I just need to get the keys from somewhere and get them cut.
Also: this may sound dumb but did you remove the tape from the flat side of the battery and put it flat side (number side) down in the remote? It won't work if it's not this way.
