timing chain repair cost ?

Had it done on my 07 under 3rd party warrantee. Price was on the invoice I received, even though I didn't have to pay it. Was over $3k. Now I just had that same work done on a Kia Cadenza, factory warrantee, they only charged about $1200 back to Kia. So I guess it depends on who's paying, and what they agree upon. It's a long job, a lot of seals, not a lot of $ in parts. think it was 10 hours on the kia, can't remember on the Max.

All depends on what then replace. If they only replace the broken guide and tensioner the price would be less than if they replaced all three guides, the timing chain, water pump and the camchain tensioner shoes. In Houston, Tx $1,850 to $2500. Since you live in NY I would assume that the labor rate would be greater, therefore, the cost would be more.

Just do a search regarding Nissan timing chain lawsuit. There have been several class actions filed in various parts of the US. I am in California and the case here is Kobe Falco vs Nissan North America. I am not a named plaintiff in the lawsuit. I did speak to a clerk at one of the law firms handling a suit. She told me that if the suit ends in favor of the plaintiffs, there should be some sort of restitution for work already done or some compensation for future work. I have found it to be a very slow process with limited information easily available.

By the time you get any money, that is if you win, the maxima will probably be in a junkyard and someday you will get a small check and not even remember what it was for.

I have a 2005 Maxima which suffered severe damage due to the timing chain failing. Was on a trip out west when it failed. Had the car towed to a Nissan dealer and they found the timing chain had failed and damaged the valves, and burned two pistions on one bank of the engine.
The car had over 40,000 miles on it but was 8 years old when this happened and the dealer where we purchased said the warranty had expired. Dealer contacted Nissan and they authorized a complete rebuild of the engine at their cost, called it "Good Will". Makes me think they were just covering up the problem, but I got a new motor out of it.
