Transmission/shifting problems. HELP
My 06 Nissan Maxima se 3.5 is driving me nuts. When I first start the vehicle and drive it it's fine. Except for some weird shifting. It's when the vehicle warms up that it seems the problems begin. Keep in mind the engine temp is in the middle of hot and cold. The tranny seems to be getting too hot. Once warm shifts become unpredictable, rpms are through the roof and randomly drop to idle after some shifts. Also when warm the break pedal becomes harder to press and while driving at any speed I can let off the accelerator and the car will come to a complete stop without me applying any brakes. All of these things seem to happen when the car warms up. 10 minutes of driving or so, sometimes less. I had the transmission flushed to no avail. If I park the car and turn it off after an hour or two it acts fine until I drive for around 10 minutes. Then the problems begin again. Please help! I've ordered new linear solenoids and a new brake booster. Haven't installed them yet but could that be it? What else could it be? Please help!

That's pretty weird. My transmission was doing the same thing before I replaced the valve body assembly. But the car stopping and over-reving I've never heard of. Can't see how all that is related. Valve body replacement cost me ~$1,100 about 3 years ago in Dallas. Your description of the gear slamming and erratic transmission behavior is pretty standard for these cars when the solenoids go out. My shop said he could't buy individual solenoids and didn't want to replace with salvage parts because it would be too hard to recalibrate the assembly, so I bit the bullet and paid him to put in a rebuilt valve body assembly from Valve Body Express.
